THE SAGA OF THE SOFA CONTINUES

Joe got a phone call yesterday that the sofa would be delivered today between 9 a.m. and 11:15 a.m.  I was sort of worried because he had a doctor's appointment at 11:15.  The doctor's office is only 2 blocks from our house, but I could just see him taking off and then the truck show up.  I didn't need to worry, though, because right around 10 o'clock he called me at work to tell me the sofa was there and it was beautiful.  It was hard to work through the day when I really wanted to go home and see it.  But I stayed, of course, and waited until I walked in the door at 5:30.

Here is our old sofa before it was taken out.

I have stuffed toys across the back to keep Jenny from walking along it and hitting people's heads with her paws.  I liked the look of the sofa and loveseat, but being so light it got really dirty.  We tried to clean it several times, but it never got entirely clean.  The cushions started collapsing and you ended up sitting on the springs.  We bought it right before we got married so we have had it for about 7 years.

The room looked very empty when everything was out of it.

Here's the sight that greeted me when I got home.

It is really nice and makes the living room look less "country" and more sophisticated.  The fabric is micro-fiber but looks and feels like velvet.  It is a little deep for a shortie like me, so I took some pillows to build out the back.  This is how it looks now.

It was so dark I thought it needed a pop of color to bring it out.  The afghan on the back was made for me by my friend Lynn for my bridal shower.  The two flowered pillows are from the old set and the heart pillow was given to me at the hospital when I had my surgery.  I had to hold it next to my abdomen when the pain was bad to stabilize it.  I think it looks nice.

I got about 3/4 of the living room cleaned up.  I will finish tomorrow.  I have about a million things to do tomorrow.

One thing I have to do is see if I can get my computer fixed.  For some reason it won't turn on.  No matter what I do, nothing works.  I have to get it working because I have Joe's sermon notes and the program for the Christmas Eve service on it.  If they are lost, I'm sunk.  My sister and a friend have both taken their computers to Staples and have had good success, so I will too.  If they have to keep it a week, I will just have to recreate things.  Fortunately I have this old laptop that I am using.  It is very slow, but at least it works.

Finally, I want to send my condolences and prayers to the families of the victims of the massive shooting in Newton, CT today.  What a horrible tragedy.  I just don't understand why people do the things they do.  It's just so senseless.  Rest in peace dear children and teachers.

On a much different note, my heart is so heavy after hearing about the terrible tragedy yesterday. I think I'm still in disbelief. How on earth could someone do that??!! My heart is aching. :(

  3. I really like the new sofa! Great color choice :)

Hope your computer gets fixed soon. Nothing irritates me any worse than computer troubles. I think it stresses me almost as much as anything does. I guess it's because I'm so dependent upon the computer.

I couldn't agree with you more on the shooting. It was such a SENSELESS act. I can't even begin to understand what those families must be going through. I just pray they find some peace from above.
