THE LONGEST TUESDAY

Ever have one of those days that seems to never end?  You look at the clock thinking it must be at least an hour since you looked at it last time and it's been only 15 minutes.  That's the kind of day I had yesterday.

It started when I got up at 6:30 to make cookies for the Bible study.  OK, I cheated.  But I was just too tired.  I had some of those Pillsbury ready made snowman cookies that you just put on the cookie sheet and bake for 10 minutes.  Easy and good to eat.  I was saving them for Christmas, but this was Christmas too in my mind.  They turned out really good.  Everyone loved them and they all went.  So I guess I don't have to bake from scratch every week.  I think I'm going to get some of these cookies and keep them in the fridge for just such weeks.

Joe started to get up to go, but he was in too much pain.  So he asked me to teach.  I don't mind teaching, but I'd like a little more than an hour's notice.  So I had to go study the lesson real quick.

My sister was leaving yesterday morning to spend the day with our girlfriend.  Then today (Wednesday) she is spending the day with another friend.  Then it's home on Thursday.  She always has so many visits to make when she is in Philly.  You can tell how sweet she is because everyone wants to spend time with her.

I wanted to take some pictures with her before she left.  I quickly got showered and dressed so in these pictures my hair is still wet.  Sorry.

Yes, my eyes are closed.  I think Elaine got a better picture of us and maybe I can get a copy of that.

I have so many Christmas tops, but most of them are heavy and it is too warm this year to wear them.  But here I am wearing the new t-shirt I got at Target yesterday.  You can't see it, but both the reindeer have red sparkly noses.  It's really cute.  I never thought it would be warm enough to wear a Christmas t-shirt, but work is really hot!

Bible study went well.  We are studying James chapter 4 and were talking about pride.  A touchy subject.  No one wants to listen to a person boasting about themselves, but usually don't realize when they do it.  It was very interactive and interesting today.  So sad Joe couldn't be there.

After study I took Debbie home and then went to work.  Yes, Tuesdays are FULL days for me.  Because I wasn't there on Monday I had TONS of work to do.  And I didn't get it all done.  I had to prioritize, get the most important stuff done, and the rest is just sitting there waiting for me today.  Job security I always say.

I called Joe a couple of times during the day to make sure he was OK.  He called the doctor to see if the x-ray results had come in and the receptionist said it would be 3-5 days to get the results.  I said, "Oh no it's not!  I'll get the results."  So I called.  I was very polite, but firm and told them he might be walking around with a broken hip and asked if there was anything they could do to rush things along.  She said, "Hold on."  When she got back on the line she had called the hospital, had them fax over the results and had them in her hand.  It turns out there are no breaks.  YES!  He is still in a lot of pain, so I made an appointment for him for Friday morning (that's the first one they had open).  I thanked her for all her help and hung up.  When I called Joe back and told him, he was amazed and kept saying what a wonderful wife I was.  Well, I am, but basically it's just knowing how to handle people in a business setting which I've been doing since I was 19.  Sometimes I just have to shake my head.

I had leftover chicken in tomato sauce over linguine for dinner.  It was quick and easy which I need when I get home from work at 8:30 p.m.  It was even better than it was the first time I had it.  Sometimes I think the flavors just have to meld some.

I laid down to watch some TV and fell asleep on the sofa.  I woke up about an hour ago and decided to get up and start the day.  Another day at work.  Hope this day goes faster than yesterday and is less eventful.

  1. Praise God for Joe's xrays! That was great news & a burden lifted from your heart,I know.
I am glad Elaine's visit went so well. I'll bet she needs time off to recuperate! Ha ha
A lot of pasta/sauce dishes seem to 'season'with time.Sometimes I'm tempted to cook them a day ahead for just that purpose.
I can vouch for those cookies!

I'll be keeping Joe & you in prayer.

  2. I am so glad to hear that Joe did not have a broken hip! I hope he feels better quickly. I love your Christmas t-shirt! That makes me want to run out to Target and buy one for myself. I know what you mean about it being too warm for heavier clothes so far this winter. I was looking at Christmas turtle necks at the store yesterday and could not even imagine wearing one of them right now. LOL

  3. No broken bones! YEA!
Sometimes, if it's someone else, we can be very assertive but when it comes down to us, different story.
    Way to go!
