Hooray! Yes indeedy! I am back!!!! I woke up a little groggy, but by 1 p.m. I realized I was back to myself. This is such a good feeling to be me again.
Joe had a doctor's appointment at 8:45 a.m. so we headed out for that. He thought it was a simple matter of getting some blood drawn, a quick physical and we would be out of there. So he went back to the office with the nurse and I settled down with my book to wait for him. After I had read three chapters I began to wonder just where he was. Surely it didn't take that long. It had been over an hour. Here he not only had blood taken, but a complete physical with lots of questions and referrals to other doctors along with getting his prescriptions refilled and a flu shot. No wonder he was so long.
They always have such cute little decorations in that office. Today it was a little scarecrow girl and a ceramic pumpkin. I wanted to get a picture of them, but I didn't have my camera with me. The one time, huh? I tried to get it with my phone, but I was too far away.
On the way home we stopped at 7-11 for breakfast and I grabbed a sandwich for lunch. Then we headed home.
I ate and then went to get ready for work. But I did the unthinkable. I fell asleep. Sound asleep. When I woke up I was 15 minutes late for work. I called in and told them I was on my way, then ran to the bathroom and got myself together. I got to work an hour late and had to take vacation time. But let me tell you, that 45 minute nap was the best thing I did all day. My voice is back, I'm feeling good, I have been in a good mood and even been pleasant to the unpleasant people who have approached me. Now that's a good nap!
There is a new system of clustering the libraries which is starting shortly. Our cluster takes in the largest area, from west Philly to us on the east near the river. No one is looking forward to it. It is going to be a real nuisance with a lot of traveling across the city to fill in for people at other libraries. And it starts... the week after I retire. God is so good and I'm so glad I listened to His timing all through this retirement process. I just dodged a huge bullet.
Since this is my late night, I called out for Chinese food when I got home. I got chicken and broccoli and Joe got General Tso's chicken. They give you so much that I couldn't eat it all. So I have lunch for this weekend.
I'm really tired so I'm going to bed. Tomorrow is my early day. Then I have three days off. Look for another Marianne Story tomorrow.
Kathy
59 days to retirement
Just 59 more days Kathy and you will be done with this whole work thing. Then you can nap whenever you like! I'm glad your feeling better. I'm going to email you back as soon as things slow down around here!!!
ReplyDeleteI like naps. I'll be looking forward to your email.
DeleteI am so happy you are BACK!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI am happy to BE back!
DeleteI'm happy you're back too! I had a late night last eve even tho I knew I had to get to work 2 hours early today. So tired but got stuff done at home then crawled in bed but didn't sleep real great, I think. It's been a fun day. Glad you're escaping the new deal at the library. Sounds like madness to me and confusion!! Thanks for stopping by and commenting on our anniversary post. Hugs and always enjoy your Charlie Brown pictures.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Becky. I love finding the Charlie Brown pictures. I seem to have a lot of them.
DeleteOverjoyed to hear you're back! Naps are THE best! Glad you had such a good day. You deserve it.
ReplyDeleteI think the cluster sounds like one big headache and a huge dose of aggravation. Glad you followed the Lord's leading.
Have a beautiful day!
Thanks, Debbie. Hope you have a good day too.
DeleteSo glad you're all better, and that you Joe is being so well taken care of. That little sleep-nudge told you just what you needed to get up and going, and it seems to have done the trick.
ReplyDeleteHope you're having a splendiferous October!
rachel
My October has been great so far.
DeleteOh sweet Kathy, you made me smile. Your falling asleep reminded me of a fellow I worked with. He got to work one morning, found out he was an hour early, so went back to his car and went to sleep woke up an hour and a half later and clocked in late. I told him he was the only one I knew who came to work early and clocked in late. Glad you are feeling better. Good for Joe, getting his money's worth at the doctor's office. LOL. Blessings to you both for a great weekend, xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteOne of my former co-workers did the same thing. That's so funny that it would happen to two different people. I had to chuckle when you said Joe got his money's worth at the doctor. That is so true.
DeleteHi Kathy and I'm so glad you feel better! Your body was tell you you needed a rest. I was hoping you'd tell us you just took the day off! :) Hope your hubby's checkup went well. Mine is Monday and I always dread it. Thanks for popping in to see me.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia :)
