We had a new person join the staff at Richmond Library today. His name is Bob and he got transferred to us from the Independence Branch. I am SO happy. He is happy to be there too.
Bob started with the library three years before I did, so technically he is not new. He also lives a block from the branch and is going to be saving about $80 in carfare each month because he doesn't have to take the train to get to work. That's a real plus for him. I've known and worked with him off and on for about 12 years or so which makes it really easy having him around. And is he ever a worker -- always wanting to be busy. What a pleasure!
It is so wonderful to have enough people to staff the branch. For the first time since I was promoted I have actually had the time to really do my job. I didn't have to switch hats midday from my new job to my old job to try to get everything done. I think I am going to be enjoying my job more because I won't be so stressed out all the time.
Yesterday the handle on the faucet in the bathroom sink broke. Joe glued it together and put it back on, but he was afraid it wouldn't last, so we went to Home Depot and got a replacement. When he got it home last night, it didn't fit. Tonight we returned it and he looked and looked for the right one, but couldn't find it. So we went across the street to Lowe's and he found a set he thought he could use. When we got home, he put them on and they fit. It looks like a new faucet now and cost less than $10.
While we were out, Joe said he wanted to buy me dinner because I was so tired. We went to Chik-Fil-A because it was in the same shopping center as Lowe's. Even though I had eaten there on Saturday, I still loved having dinner there. Joe has not been able to go there because they cook everything in peanut oil and he is allergic to it. I found out when I was there on Saturday that they have grilled chicken which has no oil on it. He was able to eat that. We love eating there. The atmosphere is so great.
Now I am home doing a load of laundry and getting ready to get a load in the dishwasher. Hopefully I will have enough energy to get the living room picked up.
We have Bible Study tomorrow morning. Our friend, Trish, is giving me a break and making cookies for tomorrow. She's really thoughtful that way.
Joe got a referral to get his wrist x-rayed and I think I will have to go into work late so that I can get him to the hospital after the study and see if it is really broken or just sprained. It never ends.
Well, goodnight everyone. I've got to get back to work.
I'm glad you now have enough help around the library. Maybe it will allow you to enjoy your job more & REST more!
ReplyDeleteHope Joe's wrist isn't broken. Keep us updated.
Have a good week :)
