Welcome to another Glimpse of Philly. Hope you are enjoying these. Here's your glimpse for today.
Yeah, that sounds right.
A lovely shot of the Art Museum at sunset.
The sun setting over the Philly skyline. This is one of my favorite shots. Looking at this I can imagine people of the past facing west and wondering what kind of land was out there and then heading to Ohio, Illinois, Kentucky and Tennessee. My great-grandmother's aunt and uncle joined a covered wagon train in the 1800s that left from center city heading in just that direction.
More later.

Kathy, I love the pictures. Beautiful. I have to tell this story to you since you showed the man-ays. A lady our family knew worked a bar that served food. She took an order and just put an "m" , onion , and pickle on the sandwich. Well the cook asked her is that "M" for mayo or mustard? She said, "neither, it's mator."(tomato) Everyone had a good laugh over that. Anna Jo was from the south and that's what she called tomatoes. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteThat is too funny. Every area of the country has their own way of speaking.
Deleteawesome
ReplyDeleteWe say Man-ayes too!
ReplyDeleteThank you for this. It's really interesting how a word gets pronounced or is different in other areas. Enjoy your day!
