Today started off OK. I made it to church this morning. Only coughed a little bit so didn't disturb the service too much. We had a guest speaker -- a lady who is a missionary in Africa. She was very interesting telling about what is happening over there in Kenya. We also had communion which is always very special.
Our friend, Frank, stopped over this afternoon. We sat out in the yard and talked. It was nice and warm and sunny. I know we won't have many more days like this one.
Tonight, however, was awful. I tried to make a crustless coconut custard pie that I read about on facebook. I put all the ingredients in the blender and mixed them up. But when I went to put the mixture into the pie plate the whole thing fell apart and I had sugared milk all over the kitchen table, floor, my computer that I had been reading the recipe from, the chairs, my medication bottles, my plants... Even the walls were spattered. It was awful! It took me forever to clean everything up. I still don't think it's entirely clean. I am going to have to scrub the floor tomorrow.
I remade the pie in a bowl and this time got it into the pie plate. It turned out really good. But all that milk, eggs, and sugar wasted. I hate that.
I also made Steak Diane and white asparagus with hollandaise sauce. Joe said it was wonderful.
It is getting late and I still have to hang the wash before I go to bed. So I am going to get right to the photo challenge. The topic today is "on the table." I haven't done a lot of decorating this year, but I do have my end table decorated.
My ceramic pumpkin is from last year, but the wooden "Autumn Blessings" pumpkin is new this year. The candle is Honey Pumpkin Pie. It smells great.
Here is a wider view of the table. You can see some of the other things on it.
On the left is the base of my lamp. On the right is my winter angel. I always have a couple of little Beatrix Potter books there too.
Hope you like the little peek at my table.
Linking up with Kaitlin at Homemaker Design for this October photo challenge.

Loved the peek at your table! I think the 'Autumn Blessings' is so cute. The guest speaker sounds very interesting. I like hearing stories about other places.
ReplyDeleteSorry about your spill. I agree about it being a waste, but give yourself kudos for trying again. Some people would probably have just given up & made something much easier. That counts for something....
Hope you have a great Monday! ps Did you hear the temp will be 80 degrees on Wednesday?
Warmer for you!
I want to smell that candle!!
ReplyDeleteOooh, and I don't know that I've ever heard of Steak Diane... this recipe sounds like a must! :)
Sorry about your pie! It's so fun to make a new recipe until something wrong happens. What a mess! The pie sounds like a good one to eat, though.
ReplyDeleteOh, dear! That pie mess - I'm sorry, that's terrible!!! :( I am glad it did turn out after all that...I'm impressed you even continued - I would have thrown in the towel! I haven't heard of Steak Diane either (saw Bevy's comment) but you're whole supper sounds DELICIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI like your decorations! Why do you keep the Beatrix Potter books on hand? Is there a story to that?? :)
Hi Kathy....
ReplyDeleteYIKES, WHAT A MESS THAT MUST HAVE BEEN...
Dinner sounds delish....I am sure the candle does too!
Enjoy your week....
Cheers!
Linda :o)
Even though that is my name...I don't think I've ever had Steak Diane! I hope it was good! heehee! I love your pretty fall decorations and those precious little books. Have a good week my friend! Sweet hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteSorry about your pie! I hate it when that happens! Louis Dean spilled a bottle of Worchestershire sauce in the fridge the other day - that was a stinky mess! I love the fall fragrance candles too!!
ReplyDeleteThat is too bad about the pie! Is it the Bisquick one that makes its own crust? That is a favorite of mine! Glad you are feeling better.
