I woke up this morning still in pain, but after taking some aspirin I was OK enough to get to work -- but late. I called the dentist as soon as I got in and found that she is away until the 23rd of this month. So I called the specialist I had seen in May. He had said to call if the pain got worse. He was out also, but since there are 8 doctors in practice together one of the other dentists was able to see me ASAP.
It took me about an hour to get there from work, but they took me right in. Boy, I love this office. Every single one of the dentists is just so nice, kind, and explains everything to me giving me several options. This dentist was no exception. After examining me he said the number one thing was to get rid of the massive infection I have. He gave me a prescription for an antibiotic and told me to keep taking the aspirin to keep the pain and swelling down.
I got the medicine and went back to work. Because I was out there weren't enough people to open the building, so we had a late opening. I put myself on the desk first and realized that was a mistake. Tons of people came in and I was quickly overwhelmed.
I was so tired from the medicine that I could hardly drive home. When I got in, I laid down in bed for "just a few minutes". Here it is 5 hours later and I have just woken up. I am in so much pain! My whole face is throbbing. I have just taken my antibiotic and aspirin so hopefully in half an hour or so this will be better.
Joe has gone to Wawa to get us something for dinner. I asked for a hot bowl of mashed potatoes and meat balls. I figure that is soft enough to get down. We were going to go out for dinner tonight, but there is no way.
Please pray for me. I have a follow-up appointment with my regular specialist dentist on Thursday morning.
praying you feel better soon. Gentle hugs!
ReplyDeleteToothaches are the MOST painful thing ever!!! Been there - done that - and SO sorry you are there now!!!
ReplyDeleteOh wow Kathy,
ReplyDeleteI'm so very sorry your having to live through this.
Can I offer a word of advice? Keep up on the pain meds in order for the pain not to intensify between doses. Doctors always recommend having pain meds in system at least 1/2 hr before next dosage.
Hope you feel better soon.
Hugs, VIola
I agree with Viola. If the dose is every 4 hrs for example, I don't wait for the 'expire'time.I take the next dose at 3 1/2 or 3 3/4 to keep the pain at bay. As the antibiotics work, that should help.
ReplyDeleteI am sooo empathsizing with you! Been there & feel for you. Will be praying for you
ps I LOVE mashed potatoes!!
