WINTER DECORATIONS AND OTHER THINGS

Hello, friends!  It's only Wednesday?  Yesterday I thought it was Saturday!

My life is crazy busy these days.  Sunday was church.  No kids showed up for Sunday School again and so I got a chance to sit in church and hear the message.  I enjoy that but wish the kids would show up for me to teach them.  Joe was sick on Sunday so wasn't able to get to church.  We usually stop in Shoprite for lunch, but I just went home and made us grilled cheese sandwiches.  Joe was so sick, though, that he didn't even eat dinner.  I ended up making a couple of waffles and some sausage for dinner.

Monday Joe was a lot better and ended up going to the nursing home to teach along with Rick and me.  They have a new Activities Director and he wasn't up on what was going on so was surprised when we showed up.  It was rather chaotic but I hope he learns quickly and it's better next week.

Yesterday Joe had an Elders Meeting in the evening.  I drove him over but Rick was nice enough to bring him home so I didn't have to go out again.  Instead I made chocolate chip cookies.

Today I have Youth Group and Bible Study.  Joe leads the Wednesday night group.  We are in Second Samuel chapter 16 tonight.  It's a small group, but we get so much out of it.

While I've been home I've been continuing on with the cleaning.  If Joe is home to help me, we tackle the kitchen.  If he is away or asleep, I work on the living room.  So yesterday I got a lot done and did some decorating.

Remember the lantern I bought at CVS around Christmas?  It looks wonderful on top of my little stove.

So pretty and cozy.

The Christmas swag is down and the January sled is up on the front door.

I got this cute little snowman at Kirklands this past fall.  He is living on the front door in the living room.

A crystal snowflake is in the front window.

The little Swiss chalet I got at Target in Lancaster is on the table by the front window.  It looks so nice all lit up at night.  I also have a Ferris wheel music box that lights up and turns but it needs new batteries.  I'll have to do that today.

You can see the two amaryllis plants on this table too.  I thought I would give you a look at them.  The pink one is still all leaves with no sign of a flower anywhere.

But that sure looks like a bud on the red one.

I put the sticks from my birthday bouquet in the pots to help support them as they grow.  I just stuck the pine cone in there too.

And finally I want to show you the progress I am making on my temperature blanket.  This is through January 20th.  That cold spell just went on and on as you can see from the wide band of dark blue.

Here is the one I am making for my sister-in-law Mary.  I'm trying to make it look like stained glass and I think it's really pretty.

I have the second row done but no picture yet.  I'll take one soon.  I have to lay off of it for awhile because it is hurting my hand too much.  Glad I have until December to finish it.

And now I have to get busy with my day.  I need a quick dinner for tonight so I'm having a ham steak and sweet potato patties.  Yum.

Hope you have a good day.  Until later...

Kathy

  3. I was going to pack my winter wreaths away until reading this post. Your winter touches are so festive and just right for the season. Guess that I'll be leaving my wreaths alone. Hope that you two have time for relaxing when you fell well...seems as if you go, go, go!

  4. Love the decorations! I still have my ceramic trees up. The small one I’ll keep lit but I’ll soon pull the plug on the other one. Hope Joe continues to feel good. Not fun feeling yucky! Hope you stay healthy. God bless you both!

  5. I love the afghan colors so far. I bought a big one at a church rummage sale a few years ago for $2. I'm pretty sure it had never been used. I loved it on sight because it reminds me of stained glass. I'll have to post a picture of it on my blog...maybe tomorrow for Thankful Thursday since I'm really thankful for how heavy and warm and pretty it is!
