THE SUNDAY GARDEN AND A GIVE AWAY

It's been raining this past week.  Every day.  Day after day.  You know what happens when it rains don't you?  The grass grows.  And grows and grows.

I got out the weed whacker and an hour later it looked like this:

I still have to pull up the weeds around the gazing ball and there is a LOT of work to do to get everything cleaned up, but it's a start.  I can do only a little at a time because of the pinched nerves in my back.  But it will get there.  And you will go on the journey with me in pictures.

But there are some flowers in the yard.  My lilies have bloomed and they are beautiful.

And there are still a few roses.  There would be more if I pruned them.  *Sigh*

Joe's son, DJ, just called to wish him a Happy Father's Day.  That is so nice of him since he is so busy with work and a sick wife.  He's a good son to Joe.

The last time I saw my dad alive and awake was on Father's Day 1999.  Four days later he died of liver cancer.  Father's Day is not a happy day for me.

Well, anyway my post on Thursday was my 1,000th post.  Can you believe it?  I sure can't.  I had no idea I would still be blogging years later.  So in honor of my 1,000 posts I am having a give away.  What am I giving away?  I'm so glad you asked.

These two summer plates with crabs and coral.  So cute!

Watermelon scented candles (smells so good) and a fish shaped candle holder.  Just right for the summer.

And a daffodil flower pot.  Isn't this pretty?
How do you win all this you ask?  I'm so glad you did!  All you have to do is leave a comment saying you want to be entered in the contest.  If you don't want to enter, that's fine too.  Just leave your comment and say "don't enter me."  But I hope you will enter because I would love to send these things to one of my friends.

I hope you had a wonderful weekend.  It's the beginning of another week at work and this week we start with our new summer hours.  No more Fishtown Fridays and no more working Saturdays until September.  Nice!

I made a special dinner for Joe:  barbecued chicken, rice and asparagus.  So good.

Well, I'm going to go for now.  Bedtime calls.  Until later....

  1. Love the lilies! They are gorgeous! Our red roses are the same as yours, though our yellow ones
are doing pretty good. The rain sure does make things grow. I'm not looking forward to the heat/humidity predicted for this week. Not a big fan of it.
You did a good job in the yard. I keep forgetting how much 'yard' you have till I see it.Every little bit
    counts! Have a wonderful day!

    1. Thanks, Debbie. Wait till you see them in person. I love my lilies. My roses would look better and come back if I pruned them the way I should be doing.

Sorry to hear about your dad's passing right after Father's Day. It's a tough day for anyone who has lost a Father but due to the timing, I'm sure it's especially hard for you. Prayers for you my friend.
