SEPTEMBER JULEP BOX
I have my new Julep box. I handpicked what I wanted to get this month and I'm really happy with it. Want to see? Of course you do. I'm always excited when I see this box in the mail.
Here's what I got: nail polish, lip balm and a facial mask.
I like this shade of nail polish. It's called Evanne.
The lip balm crayon is "melon".
I have never used a facial mask before. I thought I would try the deep hydration one. I didn't realize it has three steps, takes awhile and is a little more complicated than I anticipated. I will try it though. Maybe it won't be as time consuming as I anticipate. Have any of you tried one of these masks?
I had anticipated being away so I called off Bible Study for this morning. Instead Debbie, Carole and I went to church to straighten up the sanctuary for the denominational meeting we are hosting on Saturday. Summer flowers gone, autumn set up on the windowsills. Autumn wreath in the entrance. Pumpkin and autumn leaves on the table with the bulletins. It looks really nice. I was going to take pictures but forgot. I will get some this weekend to show you.
Have to run now. I am finally making my pork roast for dinner tonight. Debbie and I went to Shoprite after we left church and I got the things I need. It should be good.
See you all soon!

JULEP BOX FOR AUGUST
The months are going by so quickly. Hard to believe that I already got another Julep box. When I first joined Julep I knew that I couldn't afford to get a box of makeup every month. And I was prepared to say no some of the time. What I didn't know was that you get points for every time you buy a box and when you accumulate enough points, what you buy is free. August was a free month for me. And that's a good thing because I was going to say "no thanks" because money was tight.
So here is what I got this month.
Concealer, nail polish and blush.
This is an undereye concealer. I have never used one, but thought I would give it a try. I don't need to use it every day, but there are always those days. I got it in "light" and it looks like it will be perfect. Apparently you twist it up and it goes into the brush at the end of the tube.
This is a blush called "Sweet Peach." Just right for the coming fall. I have several of these blush sticks and really like them. You draw it on where you want to highlight as if it were a crayon. Then use a brush or your fingers to smooth it on and it turns into a powder. I don't know how it does it, but it does and it looks so soft and natural.
Finally, I used some extra points I had to get this nail polish. It was described as a polish that would add fairy lights to your nails. It's called Angelique. You can wear it alone, or put it over a color to add sparkle. Just right for the upcoming holidays.
I am very happy with my box this month. Can't wait to try all these things out.

JULY'S JULEP BOX
I am so loving having a camera again so I can show you so many things. I got my July Julep box and I am so excited. It's like getting a gift every month. Again, I forgot to look at what I was getting ahead of time to see if I wanted to make any changes. Fortunately, I love everything in it.
I got this bright sparkly purple nail polish called "Jacinta." It looks nice in the bottle. I'll have to put it on to see if I really like it.
The eye shadow that goes with it is taupe shimmer. I think these will be really nice for the end of summer.
I'm really happy with my order.

A SPECIAL FALL JULEP
And how did this happen? Apparently August decided to run by me when I wasn't looking. So since fall is coming, I decided to treat myself and buy the special fall "mystery box" that Julep offered this month. The fun part about the mystery box is you know you are getting six items, but you have no idea of what they are. Some people order several mystery boxes hoping they will get various items. At times they do, but often there are duplicates. These are things that were the featured items last season (there was a summer mystery box too) or last year at a significant discount -- up to 75%. Most of the time I do not get this box, but everyone needs a treat now and then.
Here's the fall box I got.
Let me show you the items individually. I got three nail polishes (one for each month).
I really pretty eyeshadow.
I've been wearing a pale pink lipstick all summer. Here's a darker one for the cooler weather.
And finally an eyebrow conditioner and stain. I've used this before and it's nice.
Not bad getting all of that for $25. I'm very happy with it.
I tried my nail polish from my last order. At first I thought it was too dark, but it's sort of grown on me. I do like the color. It's called Magdalene.
Not put on very neatly though, but I did my best.
On with another day.

MARCH JULEP
I had quite a time with my Julep order this month. I usually get it around the 5th of the month. But it didn't show up. I had changed my credit card number and thought maybe that was it. But I kept getting the message that it was sent. Finally I saw that it had gone to the wrong address in Philadelphia and had been sent back to the shipping center in Ohio. Uh... hello? How about just sending it back to Philly's main post office to be resorted and moved on to the correct address?
Once it got back to the shipping center it was relabeled and sent out again. I got it on the 13th. Finally!
I got some cool stuff as usual. There is an eyeliner, lip liner, and a beautiful lipstick. The picture does not do it justice. There were also two rolls of Smarties. I love how they give me treats each month.
And here is my nail polish choice for this month. It's sort of blue-green and is called Casey. I didn't think I would like it, but I do. I don't think it's for everyone though.
So that's it for right now. Just got back from Bible Study and it's late so I have to run. Until later....

FEBRUARY JULEP
It's that time again. I got another Julep box. I know it sounds silly, but I really enjoy getting a little "gift" in the mail every month. It doesn't cost that much, the products are very good, and it isn't a bill! I thought I would show you what I got in this month's box.
I ordered the orchid colored nail polish, the lip gloss and the blush/highlighter. Julep always gives you a little gift and this time it was an extra glitter nail polish that I really like.
The one thing that I ordered and forgot to take a picture of was some heart-shaped nail decals. I thought it would be cute for Valentine's Day. I got some white ones and some red ones. I was excited to use them and as soon as I polished my nails I put them on.
But the white hearts on my wine-colored nails didn't look all that great to me. I was to cover them with a couple of coats of clear polish to protect them. I didn't have any clear, so I put a very light gold over them. That turned the base coat a weird color and eventually peeled right off of the decal. One of the decals then got caught on something at work and came off. So I took off the other one and that was the end of that.
I have thought of using them as sort of a stencil. I would put a light color on the nails, put the decal on, then paint a darker color over everything. When it was dry I would peel the decal off and have a lighter heart painted on the nail. We will see. I'm always experimenting.
So here is the nail color I chose for February. It is called "Rochelle". I really like it a lot. I've gotten so many compliments on it. One nail got messed up but oh well...
Now it's off to get ready for another day. I have to go to the dentist first, then run to ShopRite to get a birthday cake and cards for two of the ladies at work, and then a whole day of wonderful library experiences.
At least I am taking tomorrow off to take Joe to an appointment at the V.A. Hospital. I'm hoping to get a lot done around the house before we go since the appointment is smack in the middle of the day.
Then in the evening it's Bible Study. It's going to be a busy day.

JANUARY JULEP
I have been enjoying my Julep boxes so much. I get one each month, even though I don't blog about them all the time. This one I just got the other day was really nice. I am so glad I decided to become a Maven. I'm now at the point where I can decline a box if I don't like what is in it, or if I don't have the money for it. Nice.
So here is what I got this month:
Coral lip gloss with a metal tip that is really nice; a green-blue nail polish (it's darker than I thought it was going to be); a nail top coat that makes my nails iridescent (can't wait to try it); a gel eye liner; and a box of Junior Mints (gone already).
Here is my Julep nail polish for this month. All the colors are named after women. This color is called Isla. I didn't think I would like it, but I really do.
I missed taking my 8:30 a.m. picture yesterday. I slept in. But here are the ones for January 4, 5, and 7. You would have only seen clouds and snow yesterday anyway.
More tomorrow. Until later...

JULEP #4
I have gotten two more Julep boxes since I last wrote about them and am about to get another one. I am really enjoying this and hope I can afford to keep it up for quite awhile. I always get compliments when I wear their nail polish or use their makeup. (And believe me, I need all the help I can get!)
So here is the box I got two times ago.
I use the Bare Body Milk after I take a shower. It is sooo nice. It gets absorbed right into the skin with no oily or creamy mess left behind. It makes my skin feel so smooth and soft. I love using it.
The Mint Condition Pedi Creme is also nice. It conditions and exfoliates my feet while making them cool with a nice mint smell and feel. My feet are always hot and hurting after a day at work and this works just great. I even used it on Joe and he loved it too.
These have been great for the summer. Now they are beginning to bring out their autumn products. I'm excited to see what they are going to be.

JULEP #3
I was so excited when I got home from my doctor visit on Friday to see this between the doors.
It was my Julep box number 3. This time I got hand cream, hand scrub and a beautiful polish called "Paulette." I think it's funny because one of my best friends is named Paulette. She is pretty and would look so good with this shade of nailpolish.
I absolutely love the color.
I have been having lots of problems with dry skin on my hands and I can't wait to try this out. I hope it works really well.
Well, that's my treat to myself this month. Let's see what they send me next!

JULEP #2
I got my second box from Julep a couple of days ago. I missed out on selecting what I would receive. For some reason my emails from Julep go into my promotions folder instead of my primary folder. I look at the promotions maybe twice a month, so I didn't get the chance to say yes I wanted it, no skip a month, or give me another choice. So I've learned my lesson and will be looking for their emails.
But, saying all of that, I absolutely love what I got this month.
On the left is a pore-minimizing blush called "Peach Bellini" and on the right is a pore-minimizing bronzer called "Light Golden Bronze". Amazingly both are the perfect shade for my skin tone. I've already worn the blush to work. I just love it. Although it looks dark in the picture, when I put it on it is soft and light and looks natural.
I also got two pieces of hard candy (lime and strawberry) as my treat.
I know this is a splurge, but it is so nice to get these little boxes each month. It is like having Christmas all year long.

JULEP
I am not much of a makeup person. I like to look natural, not look like a clown (like some people I know). But I do like to fix myself up some. And let's face it, at my age I need some fixing! So I was interested when I read a post by Hollie at Blog-o-Holl*ic about this great company that she is getting things from.
I went online and looked over the site. They give you a quiz to find out what kind of person you are colorwise. Then they suggest certain products for you. I came up with "It Girl". I looked at their suggestions, but they just weren't me. You can change to another category so I looked through them and found I liked the colors in "Modern Beauty" so that's what I ordered. My first box was free. I was also able to order two additional products.
So I was excited when I saw this when I got home from work yesterday.
I opened it and saw all of these things!
Here's what I got:
In the "Modern Beauty" package there was an eyeliner pencil, brown on one end and black on the other, with a sharpener, and a really beautiful lip gloss called "Charming". Joe said it was charming on me. I also ordered two nail creams. One is called Alaina and is sort of a gray/brown. The other was a "mystery" color and turned out to be Isla, a silvery color. They also always send an additional free gift and I got some makeup sponges and a 50% off coupon for my next box. It's always guaranteed to be worth at least $40 and you pay $20 or less.
The good thing is you can cancel whenever you want with no penalty. It's fun for now. I know eventually I will get enough and want out so that's OK too.
Thanks, Hollie, for introducing me to this. If you want to check them out their site is www.julep.com. If you order, put "freebox" in the checkout code to get your first box free.

High: 70 degrees
Low: 30 degrees (40 degree difference!)
