I got only 3 hours sleep last night but still got up early to get ready for the Ladies' Brunch at church today. I left to pick up Debbie and we went to Shop Rite to get flowers for the tables.
We got to church early and began to set up for the meal. It wasn't too long before Genny showed up and between the three of us we got the flowers cut and put in vases, put out the desserts and made the coffee and hot water for tea. Everything looked really nice.
Genny and I worked really hard on the bulletin board yesterday. The pink flowers are 3D and stand out from the board.
The theme was all butterflies and flowers. The colors were light green, pink and lavender.
And look what I found at Shop Rite: light green, pink and lavender roses.
The tables all set and waiting for the ladies to arrive.
We had a smaller table for the beverages and desserts.
The food came at 10:30 and the brunch was set to begin at 11:00. We set things up and waited.
The ladies began to trickle in and then all of a sudden a whole group came at once. There was lots of talking, hugging and exclaiming over the pretty tables.
I welcomed everyone and said grace and then the eating began.
There were bagels with cream cheese, butter and jelly, scrambled eggs, home fries with or without onions, cheesy potatoes, sausage and bacon. We had coffee, tea, orange juice and water. For dessert there were cookies, cupcakes and rice pudding. Everything was wonderful.
Genny who is one of our deaconesses had invited a friend of hers as the guest speaker. Here she is introducing her.
Sandy Hannibal was an excellent speaker. She spoke on the fact that God has a purpose for each of our lives. It doesn't matter how young or how old we are, God can use us. Her message resonated with each of us I think.
I was so happy that Genny was able to get her to come. What a godly lady she is.
At the end everyone helped to clean up and it took no time at all. Genny had to leave, so I stayed until Sandy's husband came to pick her up. He's a sweetheart too. So funny.
When I got home I took a nap because with just three hours sleep I wasn't making it through the rest of the day. But what a day! It was so wonderful. I hope we can have a second annual brunch next year.
Kathy
