MONDAY

I finally got about 8 hours of sleep last night.  I've been running on 4 hours or less for weeks now.  I nap during the day, but that's not the same as a long good sleep.  No wonder I can't lose weight.  So I had some energy today and got some things accomplished.  Not everything.  Not nearly enough for my liking.  But when you need to sit down and rest your back every so often there is just so much you can do.

The one thing I am really happy with is my oven.  The window on the oven door has been covered with baked on grease for a long time.  I have tried everything to remove it, but nothing seemed to work.  I was watching Mrs. Erica's channel on youtube and she was talking about cleaning her oven after a grease spill.  She used baking soda and water along with a little brush and the grease just came off.  "Well," I thought, "it's only a little baking soda and water.  What can that hurt?  It's not even expensive."  So in that hour I have to wait between taking my medicine and being able to eat breakfast I made up the paste, took a brush that I use for dishes and went to work.  My friends, that thing is sparkling clean.  I haven't seen it so clean since the day I bought the stove.  I am amazed.  If only I had known of this before, it wouldn't have gotten so bad.  And it will never get that bad again.  I could do only half of it before the pain in my back and arms set in, but I will finish it up tomorrow.  This is one happy girl!

I hung a load of wash outside today.  It was so bright and sunny.  I love the way clothes dried on the line smell.

I also put on a new color of nail polish.  It's one of the Julep line and it's called "Fifi".  It's a pale pink mother of pearl although it doesn't show up that well in the picture.  I'm loving it.

Oh, how I am enjoying these summer days.  I was thinking today of how I miss having a job to go to every day, but there are advantages to staying home.  I get to go outside and enjoy the beautiful days we have been having.  And I get to take care of my house the way I want to.  It's still a mess, but it's getting there.  Every little bit helps.

I called out for Chinese food tonight.  We haven't had it in quite awhile.  Joe got pork lo mein and I got chicken and broccoli.  I also got one of their large homemade iced tea that is so good.  That didn't keep me from falling asleep, though.  I went right out after dinner.  Joe let me sleep for awhile.  I woke up realizing that I had yet to prepare my lesson for tomorrow.  Yikes!

So now that is done.  The clothes are off of the line and Joe is doing a second load which he will hang in the basement to dry overnight.

It's a busy day tomorrow.  Bible study, lunch run, Shop Rite to get a couple of things I forgot, Target to get some more folders for the song sheets, library to return a book.  Whew!  So I'm going back to sleep.  Have a good night and a wonderful day tomorrow!

  1. Kathy, You sound as excited as I was when I realize that white vinegar was a powerful cleaner. I use it on many things. Glad you are getting your oven clean. I like the color of your new polish. I use that shade lots. You have a nice place to sit outside and enjoy the summer. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

    1. Oh, yeah, white vinegar is wonderful for so much. We buy it by the gallon. I'm planning on working some more on my oven today.

    1. Debbie, for every picture I show you of me, there are ten I get rid of. Glad I have at least one good one to show you. I'm going to try to finish the oven today.

    1. I was amazed. Make a mixture about the consistency of pancake batter. Pour it on the part you want to clean. Take a brush and spread it around. Let it set about a minute. If you leave it on too long it hardens. Take the brush and scrub it a little bit but not hard. It will start to come off. Then take a paper towel and wipe it clean like you would if you were washing a window. There you go!
