SUNDAY MAGAZINE

"This is the day that the Lord has made.  We will rejoice and be glad in it."  Psalm 118:24.

It's another beautiful fall day here in Philadelphia.  And it looks a lot like this picture.  Gray skies, rain predicted, and a high of 84*F (29*C).  I am so enjoying these warm temperatures.  All good things must come to an end, though.  The end of the warm weather for this year ends with this week.  By next week it will be in the 60s and then go down from there.  Well, it is the end of the year and winter is on its way.  It was good to have warm temperatures this long.  (And my temperature blanket is very pink!)

Today I will show you another front door from the latest magazine I am getting rid of.  This is the October 2016 issue of HGTV.

It's a nice bright fall orange.  I rather like it with the white walls.  And I really like the doormat.  I don't know that it would look good with the brick walls on my house though.  The chair is nice too.  But a chair that nice at the front of my house would get stolen.  Do you like the color?  How about the circle in the middle of the door?  (That's sort of strange to me.)

If you don't care for that door, here are some others from that issue.

Are you a blue fan?  How about the white and blue pumpkins decorating the entry?  Do you like the stripes on the rug?  Although I love blue, this entryway is just not for me.

How about purple?  Is this a door for royalty?  I like the color, but I'm not sure about it for a door.  I do love the plants and pumpkins along the walkway though.  And having the house number on the pumpkin on the stool is very clever.

Here's another orange, but there is more red in it than the first one.  I rather like this door.  I think the square wreath is unique.  I like the straw bales and the lanterns and the plants along the walkway.  The sconces on the wall are interesting.  I wouldn't leave a pillow outside my front door though.  That's strange.

So what do you think?  Do you have a favorite?  Leave a comment and let me know.

Hope you enjoy your Sunday.

SUNDAY MAGAZINE

Hope you are all having a wonderful Sunday.  It is our Harvest Day picnic today at church.  I will be taking lots of pictures to show you tomorrow.  We were going to hold it outside in the church parking lot/yard but it is raining.  So inside it will be.  We will still have fun even if we can't grill out or stand there and invite people walking by to come join us.

I know I won't have time to do much today so I am sharing another Sunday magazine with you.

This is taken from HGTV magazine dated April 2016.  What do you think of this front door?

Is this a color you would use?  I don't think I would, but to each his own.  I didn't even see the door number at first.  It sort of blends in.  Maybe it wouldn't in real life, but it does on this photo.  I like the door mat though.  So cute.  And the flowers are nice.  But I just can't see myself coming home to this door each evening.

So what do you think?  Is lavender your color of choice?  Do any of you have a lavender door?

SUNDAY MAGAZINE

Can you believe it's the last Sunday of August already?  Time sure flies by.

Today I have finished another magazine so wanted to do a Sunday Magazine post.  Isn't this a cute picture?

It's taken from "Country Home" September 2000.  The caption says:
"Break Time":  Photograph by Greg Scheidemann
Max the dog holds down two jobs at The Apple Farm in northern California.  Most of the day, he serves as official greeter for visitors to the 2,000 tree property.  But when he has worked his wagging tail off and decides to take a siesta, he's still on duty serving as keeper of the crates outside the farm's packing shed.

Aww...  Sweet Max.

A busy day today.  Pastor is on his last vacation day of the year and Joe is speaking this morning.  He has worked so hard on writing his sermon.  I should know because I've typed it for him three times as he changed it to make it better.  I think it is very good.  He is speaking on lessons we learn from the church at Ephesus.

Of course today is my turn to bring the treat for Fellowship Time.  I want to make brownies and they aren't even baked yet.  I may end up just going to ShopRite on the way to church and picking something up.  Hmm....

So I am going to run.  Hopefully my mental block will break and I will be able to think up some interesting posts for you this week.

Until later...

Kathy

SUNDAY MAGAZINE

Another Sunday and another magazine finished and on its way out of the house.  Here's my picture for you.

This is from HGTV magazine June 2016.  They really don't have a colorful back page, but the first page always has a "Front Door of the Month."  Isn't this pretty?  A light blue door really wouldn't fit with the red bricks and white concrete of the front of my house, but I sure love that lemon wreath they have.  Maybe I could make something like that for my door for next year.  I'm sure there are some fake lemons at one of the dollar stores around here that I could use.  Hmm....

Now that I've finished Joe's temperature blanket, I can start on the one for this year.  OK, I really did start it in January, but it didn't work out and I ripped it out.  Three times.  I hated it.  And that's one reason I decided to do Joe's first.  That and the idea that I wanted to give it to him for his birthday.  So now it's back to mine.

I am attempting to knit 10 rows a day.  This way I get through each month in 3 days.  So far I have finished January.

You can see from the gray and navy how cold it was.  I can vividly remember that time.  I was always cold.  It's on to February today.

I'm getting excited about going away this week.  It's going to be so much fun.  But now I have tons to do.   There's always something.

So until later...

THE SUNDAY MAGAZINE

Hello, friends!  I am so loving this cooler weather.  Even though it is supposed to get hot again this week, at least there is a break.  I am feeling better too.  Don't know if it was the heat and awful humidity or if it was my new medicine which I decided not to take and see what happened.  Still haven't been able to get ahold of my doctor.  Hopefully soon.

I am starting to find things in my house too.  A pair of shoes that were missing.  My Bible that I haven't seen in three weeks (been using another one I have).  A box of crayons for my Sunday School class.  An expensive pen.  It gives me hope that other things will show up too.

I have so many magazines in this house.  I am going through them as fast as I can.  But I just love the back pages of magazines where there are beautiful photos to fit the season or interesting one page interviews.  I decided when I find something I really like I will share it with you in a "Sunday Magazine" post.  So here is the one for today.

It is taken from Country Home, August 2002.  The caption for this photo reads:

GLORY DAYS.  PHOTOGRAPH BY QUENTIN BACON.
The Stars and Stripes on Claudia Dieste's porch waves in a warm Virginia breeze.  "The only thing better than a summer day spent sipping lemonade on the front porch," says Claudia, "is a summer evening spent watching the fireflies."

I think I could do a lot of lemonade sipping and firefly watching on that beautiful porch.

Have a lovely Sunday!
