SUNDAY

I hope you have had a good day.  It's been good for us.  I am sorry about not being around so much but life is getting in the way of blogging.  That's not necessarily a bad thing.

For one thing it has gotten much warmer and is going to be warm for the foreseeable future.  (Although it is COLD today.)  On Thursday it got up to 67*F (19*C)!  And just last week we saw this:

I was inspired by Mrs. Erica's vlog to get rid of some of my plasticware.  How does one person accumulate so much?  I keep thinking I will use it one day but I have so much.  I am almost done with this job.  I will finish it tomorrow.  But I will show you my counter.  It was stacked about 30 inches (76cm) tall and just thrown there.  I had to move everything to get to my slow cooker and it all kept falling.

I kept the good stuff and threw out all the little containers and the ones I kept from the deli counter.  I kept the Chinese food ones because that's what I feed the outside cats with.  And I kept some of the Wawa hot bowl plates because I freeze left overs in them and use them like TV dinners on those days we all have.  I kept only the Chinese food plates, the lids for those, and the two snap lid ones I use when I make muffins on the counter.  In other words, the ones I use every day.  The other ones I put away in a cabinet.  Neatly.  It looks so much better I can't believe it.  I am very happy.  And it really didn't take that long to do.

This afternoon we were invited to have lunch with our pastor and his wife.  We had the best meal!  Everything was wonderful.  And then we stayed for several hours just talking.  It was so good to be able to just visit with them.  Sometimes it's kind of hard to have a conversation after church with everyone wanting to talk to either them or us.  We finally had to leave at 4:30 because I had to go to Rite Aid to pick up my medicine before 5:00.

Rite Aid has their Valentine's Day things out.  Everything was full price, so I didn't get anything.  I can't afford to buy a sign for $9.99 or a cute little decoration for $19.99.  Although I was tempted by the pretty LED candles they had.  When things come down to half price, I'll see what they have left.  But they did have some cute things.  I took a few pictures to show you.

So that's what's going on.  Hope you all had a good weekend.  Now we're all heading into another week.  I begin the week by having a fasting blood test tomorrow morning.  Wonderful!  I'm getting something to eat and going to bed.  See you all later.

  2. I have fasting blood work in mid February. Thankfully my Dr. office is right down the street.....my morning coffee is what I miss most!
I try to keep our plastic containers in control. We eat lots of yogurt, the large containers, which can be reused for leftovers.....but I can't keep all of them! Thank God for a large recycle container :) Your organized space looks so nice!
    Enjoy your day!

    1. My doctor's office is right down the street from me also. It's very convenient having it that close. I don't drink coffee (hate the taste) so it's not a problem for me. I drink only water. That's right. I have to remember I can't keep them all. I have plenty left for what I need.

  4. What a warm, fulfilling Sunday, with all the visiting and clearing-of-space---both are a wonderful thing for our inner selves, I think, the drawing-in AND the throwing out.

I'm glad to see this 48 today, for the promised ice storm passed us by, and we're so grateful. SO happy for clear streets and unsnowed cars!

    stay well and warm,

  5. Getting rid of the extra plastic is such a good way to regain control over the Tupperware closet...I keep doing it over and over. Another one...Christmas tins!

    1. Oh yes, the tins which multiply and never seem to become less even when you give them away!

  6. It is such a good feeling to get things cleared out and things all organized again. It is the pride and satisfaction of a job well done.

I went to the eye doctor today and my pressures are holding steady. 10 and 8. I thank the Lord for holding them steady. My prayer is that I will not go blind with the glaucoma. I hope and pray that your testing will go well and that you will have a good report too.

    1. Thanks, Cheryl. I get my blood tested every three months just to keep on top of my thyroid. Glad to hear your report was good.

  7. I started organizing last week as well. My issue was coffee cups. I had coffee cups coming out of my ears.

    Stay warm!

  8. I need to get rid of some of my Tupperware I've not used in awhile, amongst other things. Always something in the way. Our weather is to warm up on Tues to 40 and rain through the week. It's not been this cold in a long time. Phil ordered a new blower for our furnace and hopefully it comes on Wed. Old one running but it's not the best and still has a bit of heat....of course it's cold outside! Thankful for the sunshine though!

    1. We all seem to have more things than we can use. I hope your furnace is fixed soon.

  9. I read a cute saying the other day:
Every missing sock from the dryer comes back as an extra Tupperware lid!
