The day started with church, of course. Our guest speaker was Pastor Joshua. He is a church planter in the Germantown section of Philadelphia. He is a good speaker and we like it when he comes.
After the service we went to the lower hall which Genny and I had decorated. Some of the ladies had spent the service getting all the food ready. I would have helped but I had to tape the service. Pastor Joshua and his family stayed and Pastor Sean who has been our guest speaker for several weeks came with his family. We had 22 people there and tons of food! There were meatball sliders, pork, potatoes and sauerkraut, fried chicken, green bean casserole, garden salad, mashed sweet potatoes, rolls, individual spinach pies (which were out of this world!), and lots of beverages and desserts. We ate and ate.
And compliments! Genny and I were inundated with people saying what a great job we had done. We are the Hospitality Committee extraordinaire!
I was so busy having a good time that I didn't even think about taking pictures until the very end. So I didn't get any of the food or people at the tables. But here's what I did get.
Pastor Joshua, his wife Juli (on the right) and the exchange student living with them. I can never remember her name, but she's very sweet. |
Genny, Rusty (in the background), the back of Joe, and Pastor Sean. |
Rusty in the background again, Joe and Pastor Sean. |
Rusty and Debbie. I couldn't use this for any of the promotional material I was taking the pictures for, but it's a fun picture of them. |
The beverage and dessert table. All the ladies got a puffy rose to take home. |

Kathy, Good food goes best with good fellowship...so it sounds like a perfect day for your church. May God bless each and everyone of you. xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteIt was really fun. We had a great time.
DeleteIt certainly looks like a good time was had by all :)
ReplyDeleteYou have to come sometime.
DeleteAwww----so many memories of our own little Southern Baptist church down in the Delta. There's just something about that fellowship and food that is so meaningful. And all your special touches and all that DEDICATION---you are certainly faithfyl members, and I know you are much loved.
ReplyDeleteHope you didn't get much of this blowing-sideways snow that we had yesterday---our lovies had to leave earlier than we'd hoped, for it was piling up on roads and cars, so they left brunch about 3.
Stay well and WARM, and I'm so glad you able to stay HOME when it's like this.

We got enough snow. About 2 inches and it was nasty. Today it's supposed to go up to 60* and it's raining. That snow didn't last long.
DeleteWhat a fun way to fellowship around a Valentine Party table after a Sunday service. Can't do that very often! Now I have to scout around and see if you have retired.
ReplyDeleteYes, I retired on December 31. I had a hard time the first month getting used to it, but now I'm really enjoying being home.
DeleteSo glad the party turned out good, as I can tell you worked hard getting ready for it. I feel it brings the church closer when you have these type things.
ReplyDeleteWe did do a lot of work, but it was all worth it. It was a wonderful time. You are right, it does bring the church closer together.
DeleteAll your time, effort, work and LOVE paid off. So glad you had a great time sharing with your church family.
ReplyDeleteNext...a picnic...that sounds really nice, right about now. I'm ready to get outside to enjoy the warm sunshine.
I'm ready for some warm weather too.
DeleteYou do so much and seem to love doing every bit of it!!!
ReplyDeleteIf we lived closer we would have been right there with you!!!
I really don't do a lot. I just have some more time to do things now that I'm not working. I wish you had been able to be with us.
DeleteI'm glad the lunch after church turned out well. What a fun time and hopefully a new pastor will come soon. God bless!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Becky. It really was a fun time. From what I hear just a few more months and a pastor will be chosen. We have to depend on God to choose us the correct one.
DeleteThis was so much fun! It was really heartwarming to fellowship with everyone. We're usually in a hurry after church to get home to different obligations. In my case,it gave me a chance to get closer than a 'hi' & 'bye' to people I see every week. Genny & yourself deserve every kudo. Many thanks to each & every person that prepared or brought food. Delicious! Perhaps it should be noted that the temperature was zero degrees with a wind chill of -8! Great time! woof!
ReplyDeleteIt really was fun even though I saw you only about 2 minutes out of the day. These congregational things are just for getting to know each other.
