SUNDAY PRAISE

Hello, friends!  Happy Sunday to you.  I hope you are having a great weekend.  It has been hot here, but I have been staying cool in the air conditioning.  I bless Joe all the time for putting it in the window for me.  It is not an easy job!

As for my health, it has not been good.  The medication given to me for my heart has had a bad side effect on me and I am bleeding heavily non-stop.  I spoke with my doctor on Friday and he said to stop taking it immediately.  The bleeding has let up some, but I am on complete bed rest until I speak to him tomorrow.  So obviously I did not get to church today.  Hopefully I can get up and do some light things tomorrow.  I have had only one a-fib attack and it lasted only 10 seconds or so.  Life is complicated some times.

But God is still good and I want to share today's lesson with you.

THE TEN LEPERS  (Luke 17:11-19)

Leprosy was a terrible disease.  People with leprosy could not get close to anyone.  They had to live outside the city.  They had to ring a bell so people could run away from them.

One day, ten lepers heard that Jesus was nearby.  They rushed out to meet him and cry for mercy.  They knew that Jesus could heal them.

Most people ran away from lepers.  But Jesus had mercy on them.  Jesus healed all of the men.  He told them to go see the priest to be allowed back into the city and to see their families.

One of the men came back to thank Jesus for healing him.  The other nine forgot to thank Jesus.  Jesus was happy with the thankful leper.  Jesus said to the man, "Go, your faith has made you well."

Leprosy was a very bad disease.  People who had it could not be near people who didn't.  They lived in groups away from other people.  Sort of reminds us of the COVID-19 isolation that we have all lived through recently.  We were isolated from our friends and families.  But we had ways to keep in touch such as e-mail, facetime, telephone, etc.  These people could never see or communicate with their loved ones again.  How terrible this must have been for them.  Not only were they sick with a horrible disease, but they were cut off from all those they loved for the rest of their lives.

These ten men looking for Jesus were desperate.  They were willing to risk people throwing stones at them, running from them, everything...  They wanted to see Jesus because they had heard that He could heal them.

They found Jesus and asked Him for mercy.  He healed all ten of them.  But only one came back to thank Jesus.  The other nine never returned.

Did Jesus know before He healed them that the nine wouldn't thank Him?  Yes, He did.  But He still healed them.

Gratitude is important.  How can we show gratitude?  Saying thank you is one way.  But how about helping someone.  Clearing the table for someone who has cooked you a good meal.  Running an errand for someone.  I'm sure you can come up with lots of good ideas.

James 1:17 says:  Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.

Everything good comes from God.  The lesson suggests starting a gratitude journal and I think I will.  It's so easy to look at the bad side of life.  How much better to see all the wonderful things God has given to us.

See you all really soon.

Kathy

I bet if there had been a vaccine and the people were told to wear masks to prevent leprosy…there would be none of this it is not real junk going on…

  3. Oh that med sounds awful. So glad that you'll be seeing the doctor tomorrow. There are many meds and one of them has to be the best for you. Don't push trying to get things done...rest and take it easy,

Yes, I do watch your You Tube channel quite often. It is true that I rarely comment. 🙂

  4. Hope you feel better and stay in bed, even though it's boring but a good way to read a book! It is a warm day here and Megan is at a county fair being a cert volunteer for help if needed. Then going through the fair. Phil and I came home after we ate lunch after church. Need to clean my tub today and hang up the shower curtains soon...Phil will hopefully put them up as he took them down. You are in my prayers and thoughts, Becky

  5. Side effects are a bummer. Hopefully your doctor can find a resolution. Appreciate the lesson. A 'thank you' is so easy to say. We
should show a little more gratitude. I believe there is a verse that says
"forget not His benefits". Sad to say, we do. Still praying for you!

  6. I'm sorry to hear of your latest health issue Kathy and hope the doctor will be able to prescribe a medication for your heart that doesn't have a bad side effect. That was a scary side effect.

  7. Your heart ❤ might be in need of medicine but it truly is tender and very sweet! Covid did set us back but the Leapers went through so much more. Lesson Learned! Praying for a full recovery and soon!

  8. Kathy, that medication certainly sounds like it is not helping you as others have commented. Hope your doctor can find an alternative. Meanwhile, good that you are resting as much as possible even though staying still is sometimes easier said than done.
