CATCHING YOU UP

Hello, friends!  It sure is hot.  And not just me.  It's everywhere.  I'm feeling so sorry for those people in Europe who aren't used to this kind of weather.  And don't have air conditioning.  People are dying.  I'm sure it's happening here in the U.S. too.  I am so thankful for the air conditioning in my home even if it is only a window unit.  It makes being in here bearable.

I haven't been writing because there is really not much going on besides doctor appointments and cleaning the house.  And none of the doctor appointments seem to be doing well.  More testing to see what is going on.  Lots of pain in my left knee.  So if I come to mind, please pray for me to get through this.  The good news is I lost another 5 pounds.  From this time last year I am down 17 pounds.  Yay!

But next week will be better because it is the annual Sisters Getaway.  It used to be a Sisters Week, but with the change in our jobs, my sister and I get two days now.  But we are making the most of it.  I will be sure to take lots of pictures and bring you along.

I have been wanting to get out in the yard and work but it is just too hot.  I can't do it.  And all of my plants are dying.  It's even too hot to cut the grass.  But that is dying too.  Next week we are supposed to have a break in the weather and I hope my knee will allow me to get out there and do stuff then.

I'm watching a lot of YouTube these days.  I really like picking a channel and then going back to the beginning and watching it straight through.  It usually takes weeks (sometimes months) to go through them.  Especially if it is an old channel.  But it's like a sociology class in school.  You can see how people change.  Not just in their looks, but in their way of thinking and looking at things.  How they decorate.  The things they eat.  So interesting!  And I guess we all do that.  I know I sure don't eat the way I did when I was in my 20s.

I'm hoping to get the kitchen cleaned up today.  I started yesterday and got a lot done.  But there is no a/c out there and when it gets too hot, I have to stop.  We got invaded by ants.  It happens every year.  This year is not as bad as in years past.  But I am having to scrub everything.  They especially like cat food for some reason.  Jack is unfazed and eats around them.  Don't separate Jack from his food!

He's my boy!  Even if he does scratch me up.

Joe has a wicked cough.  It started last night.  I want him to go to Urgent Care, but he wants to just take the cough medicine we have in the house.  He got up, ate breakfast, and went back to bed.  If it gets worse, I am going to insist he goes.  (Yeah, right, as if he will listen to me.)

Well, that's about it.  Not much to tell or show you.  Hang in there everyone.  Things will get better.  I'll talk to you later.

Kathy

  2. Hi Kathy. You and Joe are both in my prayers. Maybe Joe should get a Covid test just to make sure. It is hot here too, and yes, AC is such a blessing. So glad you are able to get together with your sister and have a sister getaway. That would be a lot of fun. My sisters are in NY and Colorado, but we did get together before Christmas last year. My husband and I visited Washington DC this summer and now we are thinking about coming to Philly to see all the history there, but I told my husband, for sure I want to meet up with Kathy and Joe and take you to lunch! My husband said, he would like to go to your church and hear Joe preach. Maybe someday.... Keep in touch. I would love to know what your favorite youtube channels are. I love Kathy's Happy Home! :-)

    1. I would love to meet you if you get to Philly. It would be fun. And we would love to have you visit our church. Joe doesn't do much preaching these days. He was doing it each week at the nursing home, but because of COVID they closed us out of the place. Thanks so much for your prayers.

    2. Oops, I forgot to answer your question about YouTube. I watch so many channels. Try Arlynn's Country Craft Corner, Susan's Cozy Condo and Jody from Southern Seasons. You might like them. I watch a lot of the Mennonite channels too like Kim Martin, Valerie Kiem, The Menonnite Mom, Lynette Yoder and Megan Fox Unlocked. Hope this helpsl.

  3. Do you ever use essential oils? I especially like Thieves and use it when sickness threatens. My knees aren't happy these days either so I sympathize completely. Praying that the doctor has answers. If they don't, we know The One Who does.

Have a blast with your sister. I have a sister day coming up this week and I am really looking forward to it.

    1. I'm not partial to essential oils. I know a lot of people swear by them but it's not for me. Sorry about your knees. I can sympathize.

  4. No fun having hot weather as it's 90 today and Tues. Megan went and watered late evening when it was dark. I bought a new fan to use in the kitchen when it's hot as it's warmer indoors do to loss of trees 🌳 year. I hope you feel better and will keep on my prayer list and Joe as well.

    1. 90 sounds cool to us. Up in the triple digits the last week and for the foreseeable future. I have to pull my fan for the kitchen out too. I spend most of my time in the living room with the a/c going. So thankful for it.

  7. Sorry to hear about your knee. We are both keeping you in prayer.
I love the photo of Jack! So handsome! Total congrats on the 17 pounds! Way to go! Glad you & your sister can get together. It is a special time. I used to fly to Atlanta to visit my sister! Hope Joe feels better soon.

  8. Hi Kathy, I am sorry to hear about your painful knee and Joe's bad cough. I think you are wise to have that cough checked out. My dad had RA and he used that Blu-Emu cream on his aching joints. It might help alleviate the pain a bit for you. Have LOTS of fun with your sister on your get-together!

  10. I agree with you about the heat. When it's so hot out I don't want to do anything. And we don't air conditioning in the Seattle area. Very few people do. Sorry about your knee. I will pray the Lord ease your pain and bring healing. I hope your husband's cough turns out to be nothing.

  11. Hi Kathy, we will be keeping both yourself and Joe in our thoughts and hope you will both be feeling well enough to enjoy your getaway. The heat has come to New England as well (no escape) and we are also staying indoors. We used to have an ant invasion in summer months in VA as well and were told that when it gets hot they seek moisture somewhere. Hope your situation gets better. Yeah to watching YouTube videos which can be addictive!
