I've actually read three books since I last posted about my reading list. This is the first of the three. Debbie Macomber is one of my favorite authors. I have so many of her books. She is always a good and fast read. I was straightening up and picked this up off of the floor. So I decided to read it. Again.
Summary:
A Season for Giving...and Loving. It is a time for joy and gladness -- yet even the wonder of Christmas cannot brighten lives burdened by loneliness and despair. So when three "rush" prayers fly up from the City of Angels, three real angels fly down to earth to answer the call. And this is no ordinary celestial trio, but Shirley, Goodness and Mercy -- incomparable, irrepressible, and somewhat outrageous heavenly helpers dedicated to abolishing sadness in their own special fashions. It will take more than one miracle, however, to mend the broken hearts they've come to repair. But Shirley, Goodness and Mercy are on the case -- and they're not going to disappear before they deliver the best holiday gift of all: love.
My review:
I love the Shirley, Goodness and Mercy books. There is quite a series of them now. I was introduced to them -- and Debbie Macomber -- by my friend, Debbie. And I'm so glad. She writes awesome books. I have an entire tote full of them that I want to get to this year. The angel stories are fun and yes, I know they are just fiction. I don't believe God works the way these books say. But they are a good read and really show human nature and how we need to be better to each other and ourselves. And, of course, who couldn't use a good, clean romance now and then.
she's one of my favorite authors too!! I've not read that one though,,
ReplyDeleteIve never read her books. Guess I should get one and start! I'm still working through the Mitford series. I read all of them (but the newest one) before. During winter I usually reread books I love :) And it's always with my Kindle app....my books come along with me everywhere I go!
ReplyDeleteI love her books too, and one reason is that they are decent reads.
ReplyDeleteI have never read her books because it isn’t my favorite genre; however, I recently saw her on QVC selling her cookbook. She looks like such a sweet lady and was so cheerful and cute.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read all her books but I LOVE the Angels series.I highly recommend reading one if you need a mood lift or even as a curl-up-and-cozy read. They do not disappoint!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a very interesting read. I've never heard of her books but I'm willing to try.
ReplyDeleteI love this author too and it's perfect when you need a relaxing book to read. Enjoy your day sweet friend. Hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteI haven't read this particular series, but I do love her books. I'm thinking of picking one up to take with me on the plane. I have lots of books on my tablet, but there's something about holding the paper book in your hand while you read it. You have a great day, hugs, Edna B.
ReplyDeleteI really like Debbie Macomber, too, Kathy. I find they are an easy read and not something I have to plow through and/or look for hidden meanings. I think she is all around good story-teller. xo Diana
