THIS AND THAT

You certainly don't need a fire around here (except to toast your marshmallows).  It is so warm and spring like.  We broke all kinds of records having three days in the 70s (20s C.) in a row.  I am enjoying the warmth, but somehow it doesn't seem right being so warm so soon.  It's going back down into the 40s (single digits C.) by next week though.  And right now we are having a very windy thunder and lightning storm.  It sounds awful and I'm so thankful for my dry and warm home.

On Wednesday I took Joe to his doctor's appointment at the VA Hospital.  The doctor was running behind and we had to wait over an hour to see him.  But when we got in I didn't have the heart to be upset.  The guy was sick.  I said to him that he should have stayed home and he said he was too busy that day but hoped to go home early.  I hope he did.  He said something that I thought was very profound to us.  I mentioned how quickly Joe was healing and said it was due to all the prayers being said for him.  Dr. B said it was because God heals, doctors just treat.  And without God no one would get well.  I never thought about it that way, but he's right.  It's so refreshing to have a Christian doctor.

Joe is doing so much better.  Almost all of his scabs have fallen off.  His bruises are going away instead of new ones popping up.  Thank you a million times for all of your prayers for him.  Two weeks ago I would never have believed he would heal this quickly.

On the way home from the hospital we were both hungry so we stopped at East Coast Wings.  It's the first time Joe has been out since the fall.  It was good for him to see something besides the inside of our house.  He got a burger because it was easy to eat and fries.  I got my chicken wings, this time with Honey Garlic sauce which was so good, and tortilla chips.  I had mango iced tea too which was awesome.

Joe is still not back to himself.  He is lightheaded a lot and his blood pressure drops often.  But he is so very much better than he was.

I finally burned my jewelry candle down to the jewelry.  I had ordered a necklace candle but when I opened the package it was a ring!  But a pretty ring.

The paper that came with it said it is a white cubic zirconium with a sterling silver setting and is worth $50.  Joe said that is a good return on my $15 investment.  It is a larger ring than I usually wear so I will use it only for going out.

I made some muffins today using a new recipe that I got off of epicurious.com.  They are OK, but not really great.  It's good to try something new.  We will eat them, but I will not be making them again.  They are more like a biscuit than a muffin.  I'll try again with a different recipe.

Oh, it sounds as if our storm is over.  Guess I'll go start dinner then.   Hope you all have a great evening.

  1. Kathy, I am sitting by the fire with Snoopy...er I mean Teddy. LOL. Please give Joe a big hug for me. I am praying he gets back to full good health. Take care of yourself too. I like your ring. I rarely wear any of my jewelry any more. I am more into scarves. Blessings to you and Joe, xoxo, Susie

  2. So happy for Joe....healing continues! What a pretty surprise that ring was for you.
We had such a nice week here and I did sit outside when I felt good enough to do so. Seems like I'm on the mend again. Storms here, too, today and so much colder again....it was too soon for that nice weather to stay.
    Enjoy your weekend!

    1. Thanks, Diane. It was just the glow from the lamp but that's nice. Yes, I really like his doctor. Didn't used to, but he grows on you.

  4. What a great Dr!!! I'm going to quote him, sometime. God is good!
About your muffins. My theory, add lots of butter and jam. That should make them yummy.
    Blessings to you and Joe!

    1. Joe read your comment and laughed. He agrees that butter and jam makes anything better.

    1. Linda, I made a video about opening the box with my jewelry candle in it. I think I posted it about two weeks ago or so. There is a piece of jewelry in the middle of the candle and you have to burn it down enough to get to it. But the candle is really nice.

Joe is healing nicely. I'm so glad he has a Christian doctor too who has his priorities right.

  6. I'm glad to hear Joe is better and he looks happier in the photo than last time. Good to have a doctor who shares his faith with patients. Your ring is pretty and enjoy it! Snoopy and Woodstock are so welcoming! It wasn't too bad here, temp wise, 47 and sunny with clouds. I didn't wear a coat at all even when we were out. Inside the car museum was fine. Happy a good weekend my friend! Prayers!

    1. Joe's doctor goes to Tenth Pres and his wife is a friend of one of my friends. It's a small world. I'm glad the storm didn't last longer. It was scary while it was here.

  9. Kathy, I saw in your comment over on Vee's blog that Joe had had an accident, so I rushed over and caught up on the story! I am sorry that Joe has had such a time, but relieved that he is improving day by day. Praying that the doctors get to the root of the problem with his medications!
