BLOGMAS DAY 3 -- A VISIT TO TARGET

Hello, blog friends!  I hope you have all had a great day today.  Not much going on here although I did get a bit done.  I have a LOT that I must get finished tomorrow.  Christmas is coming!

I did change out my front window today.  I found a large lantern to go with my snowflake lights and it looks so nice now.  A picture will be coming soon.

I also took the Hello Fall banner, the scarecrow and the fall flag down in the yard.  I put up a new Christmas flag which will also be shown to you soon.  I want to get some more decorating finished before I take pictures.  There is so much to do and all I want to do is sleep.  I'm beginning to realize that I'm not as young as I once was.

On Tuesday I picked up Debbie and we headed to Salvation Army to drop off some things.  She got rid of 5 Shoprite sized bags.  I got rid of two trash bags and two smaller bags.  Lots more to get out but so good to have that much done.

When we finished with that, we headed for Target to pick up Joe's medicine at the CVS there.  I am so happy our local Target has reopened.  They were closed for a month following the night of looting.  I was just going to get the medicine and leave but you know that didn't happen.  It began with me looking at the Bullseye Spot.  I saw some things for stocking stuffers there.  Then I went and got the medication.  Debbie had headed for the grocery section and I did too.  I wanted to get something for dinner.  But once I was there I saw things we needed.  I put more and more things in my cart.  It was so good to pick out my own groceries.  I haven't done that for about 6 weeks.

Let me show you what I got.

These are our treats.  The pretzels and chips were so inexpensive.  And the donuts were just because.

I got burgers for dinner and that made me remember that we had no lunchmeat.  There was a lot to choose from but I ended up with the roast beef.  It is almost gone so I should get some more.

I got eggnog for Joe.  He does so love his eggnog and he had run out several days before.  He has run out of this one now.  I also got rolls for the burgers and some mini bagels for breakfast.

The clear ornaments were in the Bullseye Spot.  They are shatterproof.  Just right for curious little kitties.  Or at least one curious kitty.  There were a bunch of pillows, all different sizes, shapes and colors.  They had all kinds of different sayings on them.  But I liked this white one that says "Have yourself a merry little Christmas."  It is just the right size and shape for my sofa.  I will replace the one that says "Farm Fresh Pumpkins."  Yes, I forgot to show you that one.  They had the little wooden trees like was at the other Target.  I got another one for my little wooden village.  The Christmas tree soap dispenser was not in the Bullseye Spot.  I saw it as I walked through the store.  But it was so cute and inexpensive so I picked it up.  Did I need it?  No.  But I couldn't resist.  And I'm glad I did.  It is in the bathroom now and looks so nice.

I got two little board books for the great-grands.  And cute little Christmas tree paper plates to use during this month.

They had nice bananas, so I got four.

And finally, I found some Clorox wipes.  I couldn't believe it when I saw them on the shelf.  There was a limit of one per customer so you know I grabbed one.  It was a bit expensive, but it's been at least six months since I have seen any.  I told Debbie about it.  She didn't want any, but got a package for me and I paid her back for them.  I'm so happy and it will last me at least two months.

I got a few more things, but I am not showing them to you because they are Christmas gifts for some people who read this blog.  You will get to see what they are AFTER Christmas.

I have to get myself together and get a LOT done tomorrow.  Have I mentioned that before?  So I am going to go to bed.  Have a good evening and I will see you tomorrow.

Until later...

Kathy

BLOGMAS DAY 2 -- WHAT'S FOR DINNER?

Hello, friends!  Welcome to Blogmas Day 2.  Sorry I am late getting this up.  I had a busy day yesterday and ended up falling asleep before I got this written.  I will try to do another one tonight so you will get two today and I will be caught up.

I hope you are all having a wonderful Christmas season.  Yesterday I finally got the fall taken out of the front window and Christmas lights up.  We do not have an outlet near the window and so were always running a line over to it.  This year I got some battery operated lights in the shape of snowflakes.  They are so pretty.  I may be buying stock in batteries, but it is well worth it.  When I finish decorating I will take pictures of everything to show you.

But for today I will take you back a few days and show you what we have been having for dinner.

On Tuesday, November 24 we had ham steak, mashed sweet potatoes with pumpkin pie spice (so good) and I made a salad with lettuce, mushrooms, baby carrots and the last of our tomatoes.  We got so many tomatoes this year.  I am going to plant tomatoes next spring too.

On Thanksgiving, November 26, we had turkey breast, stuffing, mashed potatoes, roasted Brussels sprouts, jellied cranberry sauce and gravy.  Everything was so good.

On Friday, November 27, we had poached salmon, corn on the cob and another salad.  No, we did not have turkey the day after Thanksgiving.  I do not like turkey enough to have it day after day.  People think the next day will be leftovers, but not in this house.  Joe has been eating turkey and cranberry sandwiches.  But the salmon is more my speed.

On Monday, November 30, we had barbecued pork chops, peas and carrots, and applesauce.  Another good meal.  And yes, we had turkey leftovers on Saturday.

On Tuesday, December 1, I went to Target.  (You will see that post next I think).  I wanted beef and got these great steakhouse burgers.  They were seasoned so nicely.  I put mayo and ketchup on my burgers.  It was a nice change.  We haven't had burgers in a long while.

Last night I made a turkey pot pie.  I like crust on top of mine, Joe likes biscuits.  I made biscuits for him because it was easier.  It was good and I will make it again.  I got the recipe from the Campbells website.

The last of the pumpkin dishtowels.  At least for awhile.

I took a couple more pictures of the Advent candle so that you can see it better.  Burned down to number 2 now.

And now I have to get going and get some things done today.  Have a good day everyone and I will see you soon.

BLOGMAS DAY 1 -- GOODBYE NOVEMBER, WELCOME DECEMBER

Hello, friends and welcome to Blogmas 2020.  I took a look back and found I began doing Blogmas in 2017 so this is the fourth year I will be writing this.  I always enjoy it because it is such a challenge to me to try to find something interesting for each day.  But today as usual I will close out November and say hello to December.  How is that possible?

I began the month by going to the Emergency Room for the intense pain I was having.  I was treated so well and the pain has not returned.  Still don't know for sure what was going on.

I finished up the book of Titus in Bible Study and took a break for the winter.  I plan on doing Hebrews in the spring when we resume.

And then there was the election.  What a mess this whole thing has turned out to be.  But I did my civic duty and went to the polls and voted.

I ended up in the hospital again for a Stress Test which wasn't nearly as stressful as I expected it to be.

And then we had a small (very small) lunch after church one week.  With all the COVID-19 restrictions we were feeling so isolated and did this as a morale booster.  We were careful to follow all of the restrictions in place but were so glad to be together and talk with each other.  Joe made the best baked rigatoni ever.

Most of the rest of the month was spent taking antibiotics and pain killers for the massive infection in my mouth.  The pain was incredible.  I cried a lot.  I thought I would never recover.  But the Lord in His mercy healed me.  It took three weeks before I could really eat regular food and the pain went away.  I hope I never go through anything like that again.

Joe and I went to the Target a bit away from our home.  I had been told how bad it was, but it was really nice.  As usual with Target I spent money.  It's so easy to do in their Bullseye section.

We had Thanksgiving at home this year.  I made the dinner and it didn't turn out bad at all!  We have just a small amount of turkey left and nothing else from the meal.  I was thinking about making a turkey pot pie for dinner tomorrow.  Maybe.  We'll see how the day goes.

Tonight we began our Advent devotions.  I bought a Kindle book titled "Devotions for Christmas:  a celebration to bring you joy and peace."  It is put out by Zondervan and doesn't seem to have any author attached to it.  But it is really good.  I may try to buy it in hardback because I would love to just hold this book in my hands.  The artwork is really pretty.

While we are reading it, we are burning our Advent candle.  I found one on Amazon this year that came from England.  It is so pretty.  Sorry the pictures are so dark.

It has numbers on the side of it and you burn it down one number each night of Advent.

On the side are pictures of holly, ivy and little birds.

We burned it through number one tonight.

I didn't realize just how dark these pictures are.  I will get better ones tomorrow in the daylight.

Just one more thing to do -- turn the page on my calendars.  The flower one is poinsettias.

And the Breathtaking Views is showing the Lights of the Ozarks in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Jack is laying in the chair snoring away.  Loudly.

Joe is upstairs asleep.  I'm going to go join him.  Hope you all have a good night and I will see you on Wednesday.
