ANOTHER DAY AT HOME

This was another "at-home" day, but that was perfectly OK with me.  I was so lazy this morning, but I didn't even care.  That's what a vacation is for, isn't it?  Time to just do nothing.

After I finally got myself together this afternoon I went to the hospital to get the x-rays on my knees.  I have been putting it off for a month.  It was nice to not have a time limit, and be looking at my watch hoping I wouldn't be late for work.  Oh, I am certainly going to enjoy my retirement in a few years.  The doctor thinks that I probably have arthritis in my knees which is why I have pain and they swell.  I had to have the x-rays to see what was going on.  I was supposed to get a phone call from the doctor reading the x-rays before the day ended.  But here it is 9:30 p.m. and no phone call.  So I guess nothing serious is wrong.  I will try to call my doctor tomorrow and see if he has gotten the results.

Joe is doing better today.  Thank you so much everyone for all of your prayers.  Taking the extra dose of medicine at bedtime seems to have helped.  He did not have a seizure today that we know of.  We were able to go food shopping together.  I hate food shopping.  It is my least favorite thing to do.  But we got through fairly quickly and now it is done for two weeks.

I worked some more in the kitchen too.  Looking so good!  I have been taking pictures as I go along and it is almost to the point where I will give you a kitchen post.  I have decorated my kitchen with apples and I want to be sure to show you all the cute apple things I have in there.  Once I am done with the kitchen I'm planning to move on to the dining room.  One room at a time.  But I'm on a roll now and loving it.  I have NEVER loved cleaning.  I don't know what happened to me, but I sure hope it keeps up.

Tomorrow we are leaving to go down the shore for two days.  I'm so excited about this.  Then I will REALLY relax.  I am looking forward to going on the beach.  That will be so much fun.  I'll be sure to post some pictures from that.  If I can figure out how to do a video, you might get that too.  And for my west coast friends, you can see the sunrise over the ocean instead of a sunset.  I know that's so strange.  One year I was in California walking the beach and two weeks later in New Jersey walking the beach.  Now THAT was strange.

See you later, folks.  Have a nice night!

A RAINY TUESDAY

This is not the day I expected it to be.  It started with Joe having several seizures over breakfast.  He was so sick afterwards that he had to go to bed.  I ended up having to teach the Tuesday morning Bible study.  I really don't mind teaching.  I've been teaching Sunday School and ladies' Bible studies since I was 19 years old.  But I hate it when Joe is sick.  For those of you who don't know, he has epilepsy.  Usually his seizures are under control from the medication he takes, but the past three days have not been good.

My friend Debbie went for the first time today and she really liked it.  I hope she continues to come back.  I was (finally) able to give her the items she won on my give away.  I even took a picture of her in my car.

Her front door was decorated so cute I took a picture of that too.

I love decorating for fall with scarecrows.

We stopped at Checkers and got some burgers for lunch.  I brought Joe's home for him.  He ate it, then had another seizure.  At this point I insisted on calling his doctor.  The doctor called back a couple of hours later and added another dosage of his medication.  He has to get a blood test tomorrow to see what his levels are and then he will adjust it again.  Hopefully this will stop all the problems.  Poor Joe.  I feel so bad for him.

All this being said I guess you have concluded by now that we did not get to the show today.  I called around to some of my friends but no one could use the tickets.  I didn't want to just throw away the money I spent on them.  But their policy is 7 days before the show all sales are final.  I was talking to my friend Donna about this and she said to call anyway and see if because this was something medical they could help me.  So I did and amazingly they were fine with changing the day of my tickets.  The seats are not as good as the ones I got, but we will still be able to go and see the show.  That made me feel so much better.  And the lady on the phone was so nice about it.  I told her that I understood if she couldn't change them.  She said I had enough to worry about and not to worry about the tickets.  She also said she would be praying for Joe.  Such a nice lady.

In a way I am thankful not to be going today.  The weather is terrible.  There are high winds, rain and a tornado watch.  There is a blessing in everything, isn't there.

So I am working some more on my kitchen.  I will feel so good when the whole thing is done.  Every room in this house needs a major overhaul (some more than others) but I decided to do one room at a time.  That way I won't be overwhelmed.  And I figure the more I do, the more I will want to do.  My goal is to get at least the whole downstairs uncluttered and painted by Christmas.  I think I can do it!  How's that for being positive?

I'm heading out to make dinner now.  Joe asked for eggplant, so that is what he is getting.  Maybe some garlic bread too.  That sounds good to me.  Until later, folks.

A DAY AT HOME

Today I hung out around the house.  I didn't think I got a lot done, but looking back at my "to do" list I really did.  It was a day I was able to sleep in.  I needed to.  I never seem to get enough sleep.

I tore my kitchen apart today to give it a good cleaning.  I washed the windows, put up new curtains and hung a swag of autumn leaves.  Then I took everything off of the one counter.  How does one family accumulate so much?  I scrubbed down the counter and then moved my Keurig, tea kettle and the K-cups to one side to make a little beverage area.  I went through all my kitchen utensils and got rid of the things I never use.    It is looking good.  I figure if I do a little bit each day the kitchen will be done by the end of the week.  Then I will take pictures for you all to see.  It's always fun to see someone else's house.

Because I still had stuff on the kitchen table, we went to Renzi's Pizza for dinner.  I had a California wrap that was wonderful.  It is a flour tortilla wrapped around crispy chicken, bacon, lettuce, tomato and ranch dressing.  So good.  Joe had his favorite, chicken cacciatore.

We decided to go down the shore later this week and I was able to make a reservation at our favorite place to stay.  It's really inexpensive this time of year.  I'm so excited.

Tomorrow I have tickets to a show in Lancaster.  It is the same show ("Jonah") that my sister and I saw in August.  It was so good that I wanted Joe to see it.  So this is my anniversary gift to him.  We have so much stuff in this house that we don't need to bring anything else in, so we decided that he'd buy me dinner and I'd take him to a show.  So much better this way.

I'm going to try to finish up the kitchen table now.  See you all tomorrow and I'll tell you about our soggy trip.  It's supposed to pour all day.  Have a good night, folks.
