TAKING A SHORT BREAK
The trees are finally turning colors. The leaves are falling and the weather is cooler. But Joe and I are not feeling so well. Joe got sick first and he was nice enough to share. I was feeling so-so this morning but as the day has gone on I have felt worse and worse and have ended up sleeping most of the day. So I need to get off of here for a few days and get well. I will be back. In fact, if I feel well enough I will be back tomorrow. We'll see. More likely Monday though.
Have a good weekend everyone.

MARIANNE STORIES #43
My friend Marianne is not a fan of hunting. I'm not either. She refers here to the dentist who killed the beloved lion last year. And blind dates.
July 30
This terrible account of the hunter who killed the lion reminded me of a blind date I had with a hunter only I didn't know it at the time--years ago. I didn't want to go, but family and friends pushed for it saying he seemed like a good match for me. Thirty seconds into meeting him, I knew it was a mistake, and I suggested a means of mutual escape, but he pushed on, so I went, thinking it might be okay after all.
We sat down in the restaurant and began talking. I asked him what he liked to do for fun. He replied by asking me the same question, so I told him I loved museums, music, the beach, puzzles of all kinds, movies, cooking, baking, active in church and at my life's work, family activities, pretty much anything except sports. His eyes began to glaze over, so I stopped and asked him the question again. He said he liked to shoot deer to relax. He said when he was tense he would go shoot deer, not to eat but just for the thrill of stalking them and killing them. I was horrified, and we had a "discussion" about hunting.
He noticed I didn't wear makeup. I told him I didn't like it and I was a natural person, what you see is what you get. He replied that any woman could improve her appearance by wearing makeup. I told him that any woman could improve her Sunday afternoon by not going out with a jerk. He responded with telling me I was too outspoken.
At that point, the water boy who was hovering nearby, turned around and approached our table to fill our water glasses. To my surprise he was one of my kids from the library. He filled my glass and then accidentally on purpose spilled water on my date's pants. Furious, he berated the boy who stood there glaring at him. I told my date it was an accident. He went to the men's room to dry off, and Billy came over to me and said, "Ms. B, I did that on purpose. Get out now while you can! This guy's a jerk. He's no good for you. He did nothing but insult you. Don't you always tell us not to go with people who do that to us? I think you are pretty just as you are and you are very interesting, too. Leave before he gets back!"
I told Billy I had it under control. I paid for my own meal, the jerk drove me back to my car, I went home, showered to get the stink of that experience off me and bought a piece of gold jewelry!
I think hunting and killing for sport should be outlawed! So should blind dates! LOL Love my library kids!

CAN YOU BELIEVE IT'S NOVEMBER?
Where oh where does the time go? Moving right along here.
Today was Ladies' Bible Study. There is a public transportation strike going on here right now. So I went to pick up Debbie to take her to church. I thought the traffic would be terrible, especially because about 1/3 of the streets are torn up or closed off because of a massive job the city is doing replacing sewer pipes. Now don't you wish you were doing that job? But the traffic really wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.
After study we were going to go have lunch and then go food shopping. We went back and forth on where to go. We finally decided on the China Buffet. But when we got there, they were repaving the parking lot. We drove around and around in the part that wasn't roped off and there was no place to park. So we left. We were in the mood for Chinese though so decided to try the new Panda Express.
We weren't sure how it worked, but it was pretty easy. You get a choice of white rice, fried rice or lo mein and then pick an entree to go on top. You can also choose from things like spring rolls, egg rolls, ragoons, etc. to have on the side. There are beverages to choose from too.
Debbie got fried rice and shrimp with green beans.
I got orange chicken over white rice. Everything was really good. It was a little expensive and we sure couldn't do it every week, but maybe once a month we could afford to stop in for lunch.
After we ate we headed to Shop Rite to do our shopping. But the parking lot was so crowded we couldn't get a parking place. After driving around for about 20 minutes, we left and went to Target to get the things we absolutely needed.
Knowing me, you know I headed for the dollar spot. They were putting out their Christmas stuff. Everything was so cute.
Remember the cute little square fall plates I got with the gold and silver plaid? You can see them HERE. Here is the Christmas one. I did get these to go with the other ones. They also had ones with Christmas trees on them that said, "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas." But I thought six plaid ones that I can use all year round was just enough.
We got what we needed and headed home. I didn't get much else done because I was so tired. And I still am. It's supposed to be warm for the next two days, so I hope I can get some things done outside.
The Fall Harvest movie for today is "Lucky in Love" (2014). When Mira's April Fool's Day tricks materialize, she finds herself promoted to the perfect job , dating
the perfect man and living in the perfect home. Mira's newly upgraded
life even involves working with her CEO and her good friend, on a
coveted work project. When these seemingly positive changes result in
big challenges, Mira realizes that the pursuit of perfection is a fool's
errand. In order to achieve a life that's perfect for her, Mira must
let go of perfection and chase what brings her true happiness .
It's another busy week. I'll write when I can.
