I'M SICK OF THE RAIN

It has been raining here every day for over a week.  I feel soggy.  Every night when I go to look for a sunset it's the same thing.  Gray and dreary.

This is my 8:00 p.m. photo from two days ago.

It was so dreary I didn't even try to get a better photo.

Joe's nephew, Kevin, was supposed to come over today to work in the yard, but it was too wet.  We have it set for Monday now when it is finally supposed to NOT rain.

But... we need the rain.  There is still no sign of the tomato plants coming up, but the hanging pots are beautiful!  I will try to get a picture of them for you.  The rain is helping things look lush and green.

Tonight my computer went down just as I was about to print out the church bulletins for tomorrow.  Joe and I both tried for about 30 minutes to get it to turn on and it wouldn't.  It was dead.  We unplugged it and plugged it in again.  We tried restarting it.  Turning it off and on.  Nothing.

I got out my very old computer that I keep just for all the pictures I have stored on it.  I couldn't figure out how to get to the word processing to try to recreate the bulletin.  I decided to try one more time to turn it on and... IT WORKED.  Why?  I have no idea.  But you better believe I printed those bulletins out quickly.

And so far, so good with the computer working.  Thank you, Lord!

To top it off, just as the sun was setting I got a CLEAR sky to take a picture of.  Here is the 8:00 p.m. picture from tonight.

The clouds are still there, but there is hope that at least PART of tomorrow will be clear.

PHOTO FRIDAY

It has been so long since I've done a Photo Friday.  So welcome back!  I have been taking photos of Philly to share with you but I never get to it.  Today is the day!

This picture was taken from Lowe's parking lot looking across the street.

New Jersey isn't the only place with strip malls.  Northeast Philadelphia (where I live) is full of them.  This is Aramingo Avenue which is the main drag where I live.  Every block is full of stores.  You can get just about anything here.  Target, WalMart, Lowe's, Home Depot, K-Mart, Dollar Tree, Radio Shack, car repair, you name it, it's there.

And then there's the food:  Wawa, 7-11, McDonalds, Wendy's, Checkers, Chick-Fil-A, IHOP, Super China Buffet, East Coast Wings and Grill, Wings to Go, Andy's Deli, Boston Market, Little Caesar's, Dominos, Papa Johns, Taco Bell, Sonic.  And the list goes on.

And there's always something new being built or a store moves out and a new one moves in.  The rumor is that a Marshalls is coming where the old fitness center was.  I hope that is true because I am looking forward to that.

Lots of clothing stores too:  Rainbow, Dots, Modells, Foreman Mills, etc.

All in all it's a great place to live.  My friend Debbie can tell you.  She lives a couple of blocks off of the avenue and doesn't have a car.  She doesn't need one because everything is in walking distance.  I live about a mile away and it takes me minutes to get to anything I want.

Hope you have a place like this nearby too.

MARIANNE STORIES #21

Marianne had to go through some treatments that caused her great pain, nausea, limited diet and many other things.  She has been out of work for several weeks at this point.  Megan is her co-worker.

Megan told me that several children asked when I was returning. All of them I knew except for one, a boy named Jose. I have no idea who he is, yet he asked about me and wanted to know when I was coming back to work. Now I can't wait to return because I have to find out who Jose is! I might call more often just to talk to the kids and let them know I am okay. I miss their voices and their antics and all the joy they bring to my life, all of the children, especially the one named Jose!
