I didn't think it was possible, but today was even busier than yesterday. For starters, I overslept. I really hustled to get ready for Bible study. Joe, however, was staying in bed. It turns out that he is sick. Really, really sick. It was too late to cancel, so I ended up teaching the study. I love to teach, so this was no hardship for me. We had a really good lesson on creation vs. evolution. Great discussion. For Easter we had bought each of them plastic Easter eggs with candy inside. Everyone liked them.
Then I rushed home and got ready for work. I knew it would be a tough day because Diane was out for a vacation day and it would be just Bob and me until Marquita came in at 3:00 p.m. However, it was incredibly busy. We figured out it's because the kids have off from school this week for Spring break. But we got an email that Lehigh Branch was still closed with no heat and we were going to get Barbara again today. Thank goodness! She was such a great help. I was able to put her on the front desk for two hours and she did an incredible amount of shelving.
When I got home from work at 8:30 p.m. Joe was still in bed. He is still really sick. The earliest doctor's appointment he was able to get was Monday afternoon. I can't believe they are making him wait a week. I don't think he told them just how sick he is. He didn't even eat dinner. I made myself a bowl of linguine and spinach. It was really good.
Since it is now after 1:00 a.m. and I have to go to work in a few hours I have to get some sleep. See you later, folks.

A BUSY DAY
I thought my busy days were a thing of the past. I thought having three full time and one half-time employees was enough. I was wrong. What a day!
It started off with us celebrating Diane's birthday. She liked the idea of soft pretzels instead of cake because she is really not into sweet things, so that is what Jerry did. It was fun.
Then I get a call from the Area Administrator (my boss' boss). She said one of the branches had to close down because they had no heat and she was going to send the new half-time library assistant over to me to train because I was such a good supervisor and knew what I was doing. Wow! That was really a compliment!
So Barbara came over. She was really nice and really good at picking up everything we told her. I got the other two full-timers to help showing her things too and they were wonderful. I am so proud of my staff. I was glad to have Barbara, too. I think everyone in the neighborhood was calling or coming in. I had to put two people on the desk at a time it was so busy.
Next Tuesday we have a mandatory all day all-staff meeting at the Central Library. No one wants to go which is why all the libraries in the city are closed and we are required to go. It costs a great deal to park in center city, so they had a lottery to give away some free parking spaces. Both Jerry and I won! We had to be taking at least two other people with us so I am taking my two LA1s. You know I will be telling you all about that day. But I am so happy to not have to pay for parking!
The other night we watched the movie "The Smurfs". I was going to go see it in the theater, but never got there. I'm glad I waited. It was a cute movie, but I wouldn't have wanted to pay to see it. We are watching "The Help" now. It's only at the beginning, but it seems pretty good. I'm going to end so that I can see it.

HAPPINESS
Today begins another month and another page from my cute kitchen calendar. I wondered what I should write about this month. I talked about tea last month. So I chose the word "happiness".
Happiness is defined as "a state of well-being and contentment". I was interested in what makes people happy. So I asked my friends at church today what made them happy. Well first I asked Joe and he said, "You." He's such a sweetie. Then I said, "Besides me." He said, "Walking hand in hand with my Lord." Better answer, Joe.
My friends had various answers. They were:
- my bills getting paid
- a clean house
- God
- three people said their dogs
- my husband
- music
- when my children are happy
- cooking
- food (I've got to get these two people together!)
- a good book
But I think Joe got it the best. When we are in tune with our Lord Jesus, there is a contentment that just surpasses anything that we can accumulate on this earth. Jesus told us to lay up for ourselves treasures in heaven (Mt. 6:19-21). But He gives us happiness on this earth also.
One of the things that makes me happy is my yard. And look what Joe bought me today as an Easter gift.
So be happy. In spite of all the problems we face each day, we all can find SOMETHING to be happy about.
What makes YOU happy?
