What does your Saturday look like, Kathy? I'm so glad you asked. I will not only tell you, but show you what I did this past weekend. Our heat wave hadn't yet started, but I knew it was coming. I wanted to get the grass cut before it got really hot. It really needed it.
I got out the weed whacker and went to work. My legs and back were hurting, and I had to sit down a few times, but when I was finished I thought it looked really nice.
It still needs a lot of work, but at least it's a start. I have to wait until it gets cooler before I can work out there again. While I was in the yard I found my lilies. They are beautiful!
Here are all the bags of trash that were left in my yard by the cleaning lady. I am going through them one at a time (although today with the heat index over 100*F. (38*C.) I didn't). Most of what is in them is being recycled. Some is trash and some is being kept. Yesterday I found my wedding pictures in one of the bags. More of Joe's tools in there too. I admit that things were messed up and cluttered, but the pictures were in a pile on top of my desk. Here's the before.
And here's after I got rid of a bag. Another bag was gone through on Sunday so it looks even better now.
Joe was finally able to help me get the air conditioner in. I am so very thankful because I don't think I could have survived this heat without it.
In the afternoon I sat in the cool and worked on the top I am making for myself. It's about 1/3 finished as of yesterday.
For dinner I made barbecued pork chops, baked potatoes and a salad.
We had fresh strawberries for dessert.
Later in the evening Joe got the munchies. He went to the 7-11 a block away and brought back some goodies. He got me my favorite mini shortbread. What a guy!
Of course I worked on getting the bulletins printed, folded and ready to go for the next day.
I was tired and really ready to go to bed that night.
Thanks for coming along on my day. It was fun to have you with me. Hope you all have a good evening. Kathy
Even though I no longer work outside of the home, I enjoy my Fridays. I do have a different schedule and feel to my weekends. It's sort of a "wrap things up for another week" feeling.
On Wednesday I went to Deb my hairdresser and got my hair cut. I told her I wanted it short for summer and wanted it off of my neck. Well, she took me at my word and gave me a cute cut but a little shorter than I wanted. But... hair grows! I have an appointment with her in August, but I may cancel that and let it grow out a little more.
I was hesitant to show you my new cut because a friend of mine told me I look like the Dutch boy on the paint can. (That wasn't very nice because I was already feeling badly about my hair.) But I'm always honest with you. So here is the before picture.
And here is the after. (Don't laugh.)
I figure in a few weeks it will look better. I am a little disappointed in my cleaning lady. She did an awesome job cleaning things out. But when I went to put the trash out on the curb this morning, I decided to open a bag or two to see what she threw out. Was I ever surprised! Part of Joe's power drill. Clean clothing. My retirement paperwork. Fall decorations. DVDs and CDs. So I didn't put any of the bags out. Now I have to spend time today going through the seven bags she did and pull out the good stuff while getting rid of the trash. She also put the recycling and trash together. We can get a $300 fine for doing that. Maybe it's different in New Jersey where she lives, but here I have seen uniformed people going down the street, checking the trash and putting tickets (like parking tickets) in the mailboxes of violators. So I have my work cut out for me. But it's still much better than before because she is a great organizer. I'll just have to have a talk with her.
So on with my day. It's going to get hot this weekend so hopefully Joe will be well enough later today to help me get the air conditioner into the window. He is not feeling good this morning again. *sigh* Thanks for reading and I'll be back later with some great new posts for you. Kathy
