THE SUNDAY GARDEN ON FATHER'S DAY

Today being Father's Day is a hard day for me.  The last time I saw my dad alive and conscious was on Father's Day 1999.  He died four days later from colon and liver cancer.  I miss him so much.  I think about him a lot and even 14 years later can still hear his voice and feel his hugs.

Last week Pastor Justin began in Genesis 1:1 to go through the entire Bible.  Today we studied Genesis 1:26-2:25 "The Dawn of Humankind".  I have been studying each week by reading the scripture in a modern translation, then in King James with a commentary, then in the original Hebrew and finishing up with listening to a message by my former pastor on the passage.  This has really helped me to understand everything.  Especially reading it in Hebrew has brought it alive for me.  I am seeing so much in it that I didn't see by just reading it in English.

After church Bud, Karen, Joe and I went to the Country Club for lunch.  It was really crowded because of Father's Day, but they moved really quickly and we didn't have to wait long at all.

When we got home I just laid down and slept for a couple of hours.  I'm getting so lazy lately.  But I work so hard during the week that I tend to try to catch up on my sleep on the weekends.

I took pictures of my garden yesterday and wanted to share them with you today.

The hydrangeas are starting to bloom.  My little pink one is completely overpowered by the blue lacecap.

There are blooms everywhere

The pink hydrangea is on a small bush.  If I had known how big the blue one would get, I wouldn't have planted them so close together.

It's going to be even prettier in a few days when all the blooms open up.

The coleus is getting huge!
The lilies are absolutely beautiful this year.

This is the most that has ever bloomed.
That's it for right now.  I am going to go make dinner.  Poached salmon and a fresh salad with the veggies I got at the farm yesterday.

Until later....

IT'S BEEN A GOOD SATURDAY

Today was a beautiful day.  One of those days that you wish would just go on and on.

This morning Debbie and I went to the farm.  I was still feeling sick and didn't go last week.  I was so glad I went today.  Look at everything I got for under $18!

Red potatoes, tomatoes, rainbow carrots, zucchini, broccoli, Boston lettuce, two everything bagels and a small bouquet.  I did good!

Then Deb and I went to get her driver's license picture taken.  The flash kept glaring on her glasses.  The lady had to take it four times before they could see her eyes.  But in the end it turned out to be a good picture.

We came back here and had our first time eating outside.  Joe found a leak in the gas hose on our grill so we are definitely NOT using it until it is fixed or we get a new one.  I cooked the hot dogs inside, but we cleaned up the patio set and ate outside.  It was fun and everything tastes better in the open air.

Who is this girl in the dark glasses?  Oh, it's me!
On the way taking Debbie home we stopped at Sonic because it was happy hour.  Deb got her very first lemon slush.  Now she knows what I'm addicted to.  She loved it.  I'm still sipping on mine hours later.

When I got home I laid down for a "few minutes" because I was so tired.  Four hours later I woke up.  So Joe has called out for dinner.  I got a gyro and I am going to go eat it while it is still hot.

I've got new garden pictures to show you tomorrow.  Come back to see them!

FRIDAY VIEWS (EVEN THOUGH IT'S SATURDAY)

I was so tired last night that I just couldn't post anything.  Even though I read through the blogs I follow, I was so tired I couldn't even comment.  So if I miss you when I go back to comment later today, please excuse me.  It's not because I didn't find you interesting.

I guess I was so tired because I woke up at 3 a.m. and couldn't go back to sleep.  I hate those nights.  Then it's hard to go to work the next day.

I finished my first week back.  It wasn't too bad.  Next week I will be working at the McPherson Square Branch for the week.  I sort of wanted to be at my own branch for the beginning of the Summer Reading Program since there will be face painting, give aways, etc., but that's how things worked out.  McPherson is down one Library Assistant since my friend Paul retired.  Right now Bob has been there for the last two weeks to help out.  I am giving him a break and going over there to help out.  In two weeks Diane will go for a week.  And hopefully after that someone will be promoted into the position and this will all be over.

Last night we took Walt out for Father's Day (or as we say "Pa Day").  If you remember, we gave Carole dinner for "Ma Day", so we wanted to do this for Pa.  Even though they are not related to us by blood, we have adopted them as our "parents".  And they call us their kids.

We went to Cracker Barrel in Trevose, PA.  I took a picture of the beautiful lilies outside.  The landscaping was so beautiful.

Even though we were sitting by a window and it was light out, they had the oil lamps burning.  It was so cozy.

Carole and Walt both got the hamburger steak which they said was great.  Joe got a bacon cheeseburger.  He said it was the best burger he has had in a really long time!  I had had a huge meatloaf sandwich for lunch and didn't want any more meat.  So I had the veggie combo platter.  I had mashed potatoes, candied carrots, green beans and fried apples.  It was good!

It was pouring when we were going there.  I mean POURING.  It was hard to see the road in front of us.  I was glad Carole was driving.  By the time we got there, it had lightened up.  And when we were leaving there was a beautiful sunset.  And this is your Friday view for this week.

Look at this striped cloud!
Hope your Friday was as good as mine.  Stop back later for the Saturday post.
