I've never heard of a cactus melting though!Kathyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05673288414533354350noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7226414524517678615.post-52161774944113307652015-01-22T12:03:13.978-05:002015-01-22T12:03:13.978-05:00Ahhh---the eternal rush to bring them in that firs...Ahhh---the eternal rush to bring them in that first Might-Frost night, and then the hopeful neglect which dooms them worse than snow. Despite my own Mammaw's glorious touch with any plant, alive or about-to-be-dead, i am the queen of expiring geraniums, philodendrons, and cacti (who on earth could thirst a cactus into oblivion? Why ME, of course, and one notable Winter I somehow MELTED one. An immense one with great strong arms suddenly started slumping into a puddle in the pot, and down onto the carpet).

And is is just ME, or does a Christmas or Easter cactus have a different effect on potting soil than any other plant? I swear, every one I've ever had made the soil in the pot into a weightless tube of concrete, all around the roots, no matter how good care it received.

Must go upstairs and get out the watering can.

rachelRachelDhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11204947567574886675noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7226414524517678615.post-87359196430120816722015-01-22T10:42:39.229-05:002015-01-22T10:42:39.229-05:00HI Kathy! Remember them? :) Anyway, I only have one live plant indoor plant and it's a poinsettia my daughter gave me at Thanksgiving. The leaves have dropped off but the blooms look nice. Thanks always for popping in to see me.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;) Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7226414524517678615.post-87968261917185813412015-01-22T06:23:23.966-05:002015-01-22T06:23:23.966-05:00I like plants but confess I haven't a clue as ... I like plants but confess I haven't a clue as to how to care for them. That is one thing I like about spring;
I buy coleus (so very many varieties!!) & watch them take over our small backyard garden.Talk about bang
for your buck. AND you don't really need to do anything. Hose them in extremely hot weather but that.s it. They grow up to 2 ft high and the same wide & last into November.
Wish you success with your plants.Debbienoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7226414524517678615.post-34445536696436867702015-01-21T20:04:24.546-05:002015-01-21T20:04:24.546-05:00No houseplants here because I am hopeless with the...No houseplants here because I am hopeless with them and they would not receive the proper care and attention needed when we are away on a road trip. But, I do enjoy having flowers in the house, which is why I buy a cut bouquet at the supermarket. Good luck with reviving your African violet and Easter cactus.Beatrice P. They've been separate for about 18 years.Lois Kleinnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7226414524517678615.post-51993833216974253182015-01-21T13:43:28.148-05:002015-01-21T13:43:28.148-05:00Hi Kathy...
