GROCERY HAUL

Hello, friends!  How do you like this pumpkin patch?  Have you ever been to one?  My sister and her friends go each year but it has been years (and I won't tell you how many but it's over 20) since I was at one for a hayride.  Oh, how I love hayrides but it's well beyond me to climb up on that wagon these days.

It's the beginning of the month so you know I had my big food shopping trip.  I took Joe with me.  Even though he couldn't do a lot to help with his hand still in the splint, he was able to get me light things and reach things on shelves above my head.  It's good to be married to a man taller than yourself.

So here's what I got:

Chocolate chip cookie dough, romaine lettuce and baby spinach.

Potato bread was on sale, eggs were on sale for 99 cents a dozen (so I got two!) and apple cider for Joe.  My body doesn't like apple cider even though my mouth does.

Dish detergent for church, deodorant for us!, quart storage bags, napkins and paper bowls to feed the outside cats.

Organic bananas, cream cheese, bologna and ham lunchmeat, and bacon also on sale for $3.

Mushrooms, green beans, broccoli and sweet potatoes.

Frozen French fries, bagels, breaded flounder fillets, chicken tenders and chicken thighs.

Tortellini, tortilla chips, salsa and gallon storage bags.

The ever present cat food (we also got dry food but Joe had put it away before I got a chance to take a picture), and lactose free cheese.  I use this cheese for everything from sauce to grilled cheese sandwiches.  It melts well and you really can't tell the difference from regular American cheese.

And finally Yukon Gold potatoes.  All of the potatoes were on sale.  Even though these were $1 more, we both like them and haven't had them in awhile.

That's it for this week.  And I was $36 under budget this time.  Yes!

See you tomorrow.  Have a good day!

Kathy

  1. Kathy, I love the pumpkin patch photo. I stopped buying potatoes when I could not use them up fast enough. So I get a couple at a time. Bacon is high in our store, here in town. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  2. It's been a very long time since I last went on a hayride, or visited a pumpkin patch. You did very well on your shopping trip. It all looked very good except for the mushrooms. I don't do mushrooms. I'll be doing my grocery shopping this weekend. You have a wonderful day, hugs, Edna B.

  3. It's been a long time since I've been on a hayride too! I like the idea of a hayride . . . but I think those days are past. I'll take a walk in the woods instead. :)

Kudos to you for going under budget! Lots of goodies for these cooler days ahead.

  4. Good job on the grocery haul Kathy! It all looks good. (Is it hard to use the fresh mushrooms up before they spoil?)

  5. I really like the golden potatoes too. They are always more expensive it seems. You did good with this haul. Yes, a tall hubby is a plus =)
Our church does a hayride each October. I stay by the fire, no hayride for me anymore. Ellen loves it though!
