MONDAY MAGAZINE

Hello, friends!  Welcome to the first Monday of the summer.  I hope your weekend was just wonderful.  The weather was so beautiful today and I didn't get outside at all.  I slept a lot and tried to feel better.  My pressure is just about normal again, so that was good.

I was sitting at the kitchen table at lunch time when I heard a great commotion outside.  I looked out the window and saw "Stash", one of the outside cats that I feed, chasing something.  I thought it was a rat and then I saw it was a squirrel.  The squirrel was able to climb the fence and run into another yard and get away.  Bad Stash.  But he doesn't know the difference.  It's all rodents to him.

Joe is getting better each day.  He says the pain is letting up.  He goes to see his primary doctor tomorrow.  We'll see what she says.

I finally finished another magazine that I want to share with you.  This is Country Home from April 2003.

Isn't this a pretty porch?  It belongs to Mark Harmon and Pam Dawber.

I love how this porch stretches across the front of their house, almost like another room.

They have a beautiful living room.

The fireplace was originally flanked by open shelves and a solar vent that lets warm air rise to the second story.  "The shelves were always a mess with games and binoculars and other stuff," says Pam. Now, new painted built-ins with doors and a firewood box attractively hide the clutter.

And look at this cute hardwood fired stove in their kitchen.  It isn't used anymore, except for storage.

There were other beautiful kitchens in this issue too.  I really enjoyed looking at them.

One article I really liked was about making miniature cakes.  They had the recipes too and I have to copy them before I get rid of this magazine.

But of course, the best part is seeing the last page.  They are always so charming.  This one has a lot of sheets hanging on a clothesline outside.  I love the smell of sheets that have been dried in the sun.  Do any of you remember doing this?

For grandmothers, the sight of sheets snapping on the line brings memories of Monday wash days.  For mothers, a clothesline filled with fresh sheets means spring is finally here.  And for kids, sheets dancing in the wind simply mean fun.

I didn't get to take any pictures today, so no photo challenge.  I figure I'll just do it as I can and eventually I will finish it.

I am teaching Bible Study tomorrow.  Joe is well enough to leave alone for a couple of hours.  My only problem is when I went to the hospital last week I took everything out of my tote bag that I use for Bible Study because it is small and I wanted to take it with me to hold my sweater, Kindle, etc.  I put my lesson book and the previous lessons someplace safe.  So safe that I can't remember where.  *sigh*  I had to go online and buy a Kindle version of the lesson plan to do my lesson tonight.  I know the book and lessons will turn up.  I just hope it's before I finish the book we're studying.

And now it is getting very late and I have to go to bed.  Even though I took a nap today, I am so tired.  See you all later.

Kathy

  1. It's very late and I need to get to bed too! Hope your book shows up soon. I can put things away in very safe places too ;-)
Glad your blood pressure is getting better and that Joe is recovering. You two take it easy. God bless you!

  2. Sister, I can relate to putting something so “safely” away that it is never seen nor heard from again. I wonder what the Harmon~Dawber porch looks like all these years later...if they still own the home. Do you think it would be very different? I do. One of the great joys of having one of those cookstoves is actually using it. Makes the best baked biscuits and the finest chicken dinners.

  3. Thank you for sharing about Mark Harmon and Pam Dawber. They always seem like very nice people and their home is lovely...very peaceful and serene. I'm glad your husband is doing a bit better and you can get to Bible study. On things put safely away...I sympathize with you. It happens all the time around here. Have a lovely day and I hope you awake rested and refreshed.

  4. The 'safely away' happens to a lot of us. You are not alone! I think there is a black hole somewhere in my house that sucks these things in ,never to return. Maybe Bermuda doesn't have the only 'triangle'! Glad to hear Joe is progressing well.Enjoy your day!

  6. The picture of the little girl playing with the sheets on the clothesline, brought back a flood of memories! Great picture!

  7. Mark Harmon's home is gorgeous! I love that porch. Yes, I remember hanging my sheets out on the lines to dry. For many many years, all my laundry was dried this way. They smelled so good from the fresh air. You have a wonderful day, hugs, Edna B.

  8. I seem to have the same problem too.
I put things away and cannot find them again. Right now I'm looking for some photos that seem to have disappeared...onward...
It's not so hot today so I might actually sit out on the patio and read for a while.
Hope you continue to feel better.
