HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!

Hello and welcome to my blog.  I am so far behind with all I want to show and tell to you.  You will be in a time warp for a few days.  But don't worry, I'll catch up... sooner or later.

No, today is not my birthday.  It was two days ago.  But who doesn't want to celebrate on and on.  I was holding off on doing this post because I wanted to show you the wonderful gifts I got.  But I still haven't had time to photograph them so I decided to just go without.  I'll try to get them to you tomorrow.

Joe was going to make me breakfast, but I got up way before him and didn't want to wait.  So I made my own breakfast -- eggs, bacon and potatoes.  But for lunch, he took me to the Chinese Buffet.  This is not to be confused with the Hibachi Grill which we went to last week.  What a treat.  We haven't been there in awhile.  I had been wanting sushi so that's where we headed.

It was so sweet of him since he wasn't really in the mood for Chinese food.

After we ate, he headed one way to Modell's and I headed in the other direction to Ross.  I wanted to see what they had in after Christmas sales.  Well, not much.  Since Ross is already discounted, there wasn't a lot more to discount.  I did get a pack of 100 sheets of Christmas tissue paper for $3 and a large bag of Ghiradelli Christmas chocolates for $2.50 that I am giving to a friend of mine.  The dish we keep by the table for our keys, etc. broke and I did find a really pretty gold and silver dish to take it's place for $1.  It says it's a Christmas dish, but I think you could leave it out all year.  It's just a gold and silver dish.

Joe met me there and got himself a pair of pants for $9.  Can't beat that.  I have to get myself there more often.  Most of the time they have things there that are just one of them.  If you snooze, you lose.  It's a great place to buy gifts.

I took a nap in the afternoon.  Wonderful!  Then for dinner Joe made me lemon chicken and roasted potatoes.  For dessert we had the Christmas tree cakes we bought to take to my sister's and then left in the fridge.  *sigh*

In the evening my friend, Chrissy, came over and stayed a couple of hours talking.  I hardly ever see her anymore even though she lives next-door!  It was nice.

I got 43 birthday wishes on facebook.  That was so nice.

So now I'm another year older and deeper in debt as they say.  And it's New Year's Eve.  I hope you all have a safe and happy New Year.  I'll be back tomorrow with my monthly goodbye to the month post.  See you then.

SOME CHRISTMAS THINGS YOU HAVEN'T SEEN... YET

Welcome to my blog and the continuation of Christmas.  Let me tell you, Christmas continues around here until New Year's Day.

It was cold today.  I mean COLD!  Like 13* cold.

I'm not liking the cold too much.  Even our home is cold inside.  The trouble with old houses is they are drafty.  I put the fire on this morning and it's still on.

But in spite of all of this, I thought I would show you some Christmas things you haven't seen yet.  There's still more that I haven't taken pictures of and hopefully will before I put them away for the season.

First I want to give you a better look at the swag I got for the front door.  It is so beautiful and I'm glad I got it.

It's so gorgeous when all the gold sparkles in the sun.

I got most of my cards up and hung the stockings.  Do you see your card there?

It's nice that so many people remember us during the holidays.

Only a few more days and I will be taking everything down and putting up the snowflakes and snowmen.  January and a new year is close at hand.  Joe and I are talking about how we will celebrate it.  How do you see in the new year?  Or do you just go to bed and wake up to it the next day?  I'd love to know.

Have a wonderful day today!

Kathy

CHRISTMAS

Hello and welcome to Christmas 2017 part 2.  Thanks for taking the time to visit me!

Christmas morning we all slept in.  You can tell we aren't kids anymore waking up at the crack of dawn to open those gifts.  What's more, when we did all get up, we got up to a White Christmas.

It wasn't a lot, just enough to make it pretty.

Elaine made us a wonderful breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon, muffins and cinnamon rolls.

I love taking pictures of her decorations.  They are always so pretty.

After breakfast I donned my hat and it was off to open those gifts.

Joe loves honey and he got a beautiful gift set from Elaine.

Elaine gave me this gorgeous rice bowl and a bag of candied ginger.  Yum!

I gave Joe a copy of "Happy Happy Happy".  I knew he would like it.

I gave Elaine this Lenox candle lamp that matches her dishes.

Elaine gave each of us a warm throw.  Joe's was a Marine Corps throw.

Mine is a pretty plaid.

Joe asked for a shoe shine box and that was what I got him.  A beautiful cedar one.  It smells so good.

I saw this ring in Lenox back in July and was going to buy it, but Elaine bought it for me instead.  It was in my stocking in a Tiffany box.  Tiffany for me?  Oh how nice!

Opening stocking gifts is always fun.  My mom made the stockings for me and Elaine.

Joe usually has one of my mom's stockings too, but this year he really liked this "Rudolph" stocking so I got it for him.

Gift cards are always a good choice.

Here are my stocking gifts:  Buttered popcorn jelly bellies and sugar cookie and cinnamon roll flavored peeps.  What could be better?  I also got a pair of really nice gloves, some hand lotion, a peppermint stick and two bayberry candles.  Of course the ring is there too.

And as usual we watched "A Christmas Story" with the famous line, "You're going to poke your eye out, kid!"

Ace had a different ball for us to throw for him.  He loves those balls.

We had an early dinner before we left.  Elaine made angel hair pasta with broccoli and garlic knots.  So good.  I make this dish but it's never as good as hers.

We left a little later after we finished eating.  It is always sad to say goodbye to my sister.

It was an easy drive home with very little traffic most of the way.  The sky was gorgeous -- all reds, golds, and purples.  I wish I hadn't been driving and could have taken pictures of it.  So beautiful!  It was sort of like this picture I found on google, only more so.  It was the most beautiful sunset I have ever seen.  And I had the privilege of looking at it for almost an hour while I was driving.

We got home safely around 5:30 p.m.  When I parked I noticed we were the only car on the entire street with snow and ice on it.  Hmm...

Jack was happy to see us and we were glad to be home.

I will be showing you more Christmas stuff tomorrow.  So much to see the rest of this week.  And then on to 2018.  It's coming quickly!
