WHAT'S HAPPENING

I really wanted to post my calendar picture today but like most things in this house, I don't know where it is.  But as soon as I find it, I'll post it.  In the meantime I will catch you up on what is going on.

Tuesday I took a break from Bible Study.  Originally Joe and I were going to be away on Monday and I thought it was too much to try to do a vacation day and study for the lesson.  As it turned out Joe was too sick to go.  But I really needed the day off anyway.

My sister Elaine had given me a new microwave oven.  She had bought it about 4 months ago, decided she didn't like it, and got another one.  So I gave my old one to Debbie.  We both love having new to us microwaves.  It's a win-win situation.  On Tuesday we put my new one in the kitchen and took my old one to Debbie's kitchen.

We also took a ride over to the library where I used to work.  I had some books to donate and Debbie was picking up a couple of books she had ordered.  It was fun seeing my friends.  And the library is completely rearranged.  It looks so nice!  They even got new furniture.

On Wednesday Carol, Donna and I went to lunch together.  We try to get together every other month or so.  Each of us wanted to go to a different place, but we ended up at the Four Seasons Dinner.  Not my favorite place.  Donna and Carol got the corned beef special and I got fish and chips.  The food?  Not all that good.  I asked for the fish and chips lunch special and they gave me the dinner and charged me for it too.  Hmm...  I don't think I will be going back there soon.  I have been there three times now and haven't liked it any of the three times.

After we ate Carol asked if I would take her to the Tacony library to get a book she ordered.  So we went to another of the libraries I worked at.  Unfortunately I looked at books there and ended up taking 3 home with me.  Like I don't have enough here in the house to read.  I'll get through them though.  They are Joanne Fluke mysteries.  She is one of my favorite authors and a fast read.  Again I saw people I knew and talked with them.

I do miss working with these people.  I made some good friends.  But I don't miss the job.

Thursday I took Joe to the V.A. Hospital.  We were there three plus hours which included an hour wait to see the doctor.

In one of the waiting rooms they had this beautiful vase of flowers.  When no one was looking, I snuck a picture of it.  They were so pretty I couldn't resist.

After we left the hospital we were caught in traffic.  Well, it was the beginning of rush hour.  It's not fun being in rush hour on I-95.  Actually, it doesn't bother me a bit.  I learned to drive in such traffic.  People are in too much of a rush these days.

We were hungry when we got back to the northeast so we went to IHOP.  Joe had the double blueberry pancakes and I had German lemon crepes.  They were really good.  We had a great waiter named Bobby and I hope we get him the next time we are there.

Yesterday I went to our Wissinoming Crafters at church.  I finished one of the blocks I am making for my aunt.  She asked for 6" x 6" knitted blocks to make a lap robe for the medical center at the retirement community where she lives.  She needs 25 to make a robe and we have 6 so far with more coming.  After I give them to her, she crochets around them and sews them together to make the robe.

After lunch we went to another doctor's appointment for Joe.  This is his non-V.A. doctor.  She examined him and gave him different medication to take after his antibiotic is finished in two days.   Now that the infection is gone, this should take care of his allergies.  Good news!

I was going to do so much in the afternoon, but ended up just relaxing.  I was tired since I had gotten only 5 hours sleep the night before.  Instead of sleeping, though, I started a new knitting project.  Like I need another one.  I have 5 going now.  But number 6 is something I haven't done for myself in about 30 years.  I am making myself a summer top.  I love this pattern I found online and I thought, "Why not?"  Elaine gave me some pretty mint green yarn so I am using that.  It started off easy but looking ahead in the pattern I'm not sure about some of the instructions.  I'll just take it as it comes and see how I do.  I used to make myself all kinds of sweaters and tops so I'm telling myself I can do this too.  We'll see.

And now I have to get myself together and get ready for the day.  Hope you all have a good weekend.

Kathy

  1. The flowers in the waiting room are pretty. Glad you 'caught'them! Glad I'm not the only one who can't resist books. I return 2 & come out with 5. (sigh..) I keep telling myself there are worse addictions. How true is what Snoopy says! I've really been trying to keep the negativity in my life down. Enjoy your day!

  2. Hi Kathy, I am so glad you got to see your old work pals. I miss some of mine . I don't see them as often. You have had a busy week. I sure pray that Joe gets better. I was sick for a little over two weeks and I hated being down. Please take care of yourself. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  4. I love seeing friends I worked with....it's now 7 years since I worked! Wow, hard to believe. Life is much less stressful now :)
I love to read but I do it with my Kindle app. Never thought I'd like not holding a book but I do! Now reading a newspaper is best reading a newsPAPER.....not on line for me!
Have a great weekend. Hope it's filled with sunshine and friends.

  5. You are a busy gal! Hope that you've been getting some quality sleep. Life is better and easier when well rested. The great microwave switch was fun to read about. And the restaurant where they got the order wrong...just happened to me today...annoying.

Yes, missing work friendships is hard. At least you can go and visit, plus, get books.

  9. I hope that the new meds are helpful to poor Joe. It gets old being sick for so long.

You have been a busy gal . . . doing lots of fun things!

I had to laugh at your comment on my "tidsoptimist" post!! I love that you take Joe to church and then come home and finish getting yourself ready! That sounds like something I'd do . . . but we have a 20 minute drive to church, so Ron would never go for that! The important thing is that you learn to work it out. :D

  10. It is always nice to get together with friends and also former co-workers. Too bad about the food in that diner, which I would definitely not return to as well. Glad to read that Joe is feeling a little better, Kathy.
