NEW HAIRCUT

Even though I no longer work outside of the home, I enjoy my Fridays.  I do have a different schedule and feel to my weekends.  It's sort of a "wrap things up for another week" feeling.

On Wednesday I went to Deb my hairdresser and got my hair cut.  I told her I wanted it short for summer and wanted it off of my neck.  Well, she took me at my word and gave me a cute cut but a little shorter than I wanted.  But... hair grows!  I have an appointment with her in August, but I may cancel that and let it grow out a little more.

I was hesitant to show you my new cut because a friend of mine told me I look like the Dutch boy on the paint can.  (That wasn't very nice because I was already feeling badly about my hair.)  But I'm always honest with you.  So here is the before picture.

And here is the after.  (Don't laugh.)

I figure in a few weeks it will look better.

I am a little disappointed in my cleaning lady.  She did an awesome job cleaning things out.  But when I went to put the trash out on the curb this morning, I decided to open a bag or two to see what she threw out.  Was I ever surprised!  Part of Joe's power drill.  Clean clothing.  My retirement paperwork.  Fall decorations.  DVDs and CDs.  So I didn't put any of the bags out.  Now I have to spend time today going through the seven bags she did and pull out the good stuff while getting rid of the trash.  She also put the recycling and trash together.  We can get a $300 fine for doing that.  Maybe it's different in New Jersey where she lives, but here I have seen uniformed people going down the street, checking the trash and putting tickets (like parking tickets) in the mailboxes of violators.  So I have my work cut out for me.  But it's still much better than before because she is a great organizer.  I'll just have to have a talk with her.

So on with my day.  It's going to get hot this weekend so hopefully Joe will be well enough later today to help me get the air conditioner into the window.  He is not feeling good this morning again.  *sigh*

Thanks for reading and I'll be back later with some great new posts for you.

Kathy

  1. I think your new cut is absolutely charming! And I'm coveting your colour---I've always wanted at least a little shade of red, but never was, and now mines an almost tan with jillions of silver wires.

And oh, boy, the TRASH!! What a mess. I have a fabulous new lady who is so energetic and smart, and she wants to throw out LOTS of stuff, as do I, but she always ASKS.

    Happy Weekend!!

    1. Thank you, Rachel. Everyone in my family has some red in their hair. My grandfather was a flaming redhead. Jenn did ask about throwing out some things, but I guess when I left to go get my medicine, she just took armloads of stuff and dumped it.

  2. Your hair looks cute! It really does. Glad you had that prompting to look through those garbage bags - especially concerning your retirement paperwork! I don't envy your task of having to dig in the garbage bags.

    1. Thank you, Renee. My friend, Debbie, said I should look through things just to be sure. I'm glad I listened. Why would you throw out clothes? or DVDs? Or even parts of tools? I can understand that papers might have gotten mixed in, but really.

  3. Kathy, Your cleaning lady sounds like one of my twins(Liz) she and Karen shared bunk beds and Liz would shove everything under the bed...which was Karen's(Bottom bed)..she said it was Karen's stuff since it was under her bed. Yes, I would be organized too if I just threw things away, willy-nilly. By all mean talk with her. I hope your Joe gets to feeling better. Kathy, your hair should have been layered , not blunt cut. Go thru magazines and look for a style that would suit you. In a month it will be so much better. I have actually cried from hair cuts. LOL. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

    1. I had a style that suited me, but wanted it shorter for summer. I really like very long hair (like I could sit on it) but find it too hard to take care of anymore. I'm getting the house done little by little, but I think I have to take a more active role.

  4. It looks very cute Kathy and I know it feels great! Love your shorts too. I bought a pair of blue shorts at the thrift store today. And I know what you mean about friends...one of mine took one look at me and she said she didn't recognize me...that's all she said! hahaha! Mine is REAL short and I'll be glad when it grows out just a bit too! Have a good weekend. Sending you bunches of hugs, Diane

    1. Thanks, Diane. My hair does feel good, I just want it about an inch longer. I have a feeling I will wear more shorts this week. Going up in the 90s.

  5. I think your hair looks cool and sweet for summer, Kathy. AND easy to care for. If my hair was that short I would look like I had a brillo pad on my head. lol It would kink up like crazy. lol

Too bad about the cleaning lady. Any chance you can work WITH her as she organizes and put it into piles---keep/donate/trash? Good luck-I know that is a big job for you. Hope your got your air conditioner in so you don't roast to death this weekend. xo Diana

    1. I like long hair, but have found that chin length is the best for me. This is a little short, but at least it will grow out. I will try my cleaning lady one more time. She really does do a good job, but takes a lot on herself. I asked if I could work with her and she said she doesn't work that way. I will talk to her though.

  6. have a talk with her? for a minute, consider if you had not seen that stuff . I would have no qualms about canning her and now. That was not nice of your friend ! A new short cut always needs time to settle in.

    1. You are right, Sue, I just have to get used to this new short cut. It sure is cool for summer which is what I wanted. I am going to give the cleaning lady one more chance, but I will talk to her and work more closely with her. She is a nice lady, but I can't have her throwing good stuff out.

    1. Thanks, Debbie. And thank you for reminding me to see what was in the trash bags. Most of the stuff really needed to be tossed, but not the good stuff. Joe is too sick to put the A/C in so I will have to make do with fans for the time being.

  8. Your haircut looks great, cool and comfortable. You're going to love it in a few days if you don't already. Yikes about the trash. I think that I would have cleaning lady go through it again with me. That could be a real nightmare all around. Happy weeknd to you!

  9. Nice hair cut no matter what someone else says. Don't mind them. Glad you looked thru your garbage! We're having cooler weather right now with rain and chilly evenings. My asthma has been bothering me and had such a busy work week. No wonder I'm so tired. Take care and enjoy your weekend and hopefully Joe feels better again soon!!

  10. It's sure a good thing you checked those bags! Oh my gosh, what was she thinking? I think your hair cut is cute. Sometimes it just takes a couple of days for it to start feeling normal.

  11. I like your hair, Kathy! It looks just right for summer. You look cool and with your shorts on, you are all ready for this hot weather. About your cleaning lady, some people have no sense at all! That's all I have to say about that.
