A DAY IN THE LIFE -- LAST SATURDAY

What does your Saturday look like, Kathy?  I'm so glad you asked.  I will not only tell you, but show you what I did this past weekend.

Our heat wave hadn't yet started, but I knew it was coming.  I wanted to get the grass cut before it got really hot.  It really needed it.

I got out the weed whacker and went to work.  My legs and back were hurting, and I had to sit down a few times, but when I was finished I thought it looked really nice.

It still needs a lot of work, but at least it's a start.  I have to wait until it gets cooler before I can work out there again.

While I was in the yard I found my lilies.  They are beautiful!

Here are all the bags of trash that were left in my yard by the cleaning lady.  I am going through them one at a time (although today with the heat index over 100*F. (38*C.) I didn't).  Most of what is in them is being recycled.  Some is trash and some is being kept.  Yesterday I found my wedding pictures in one of the bags.  More of Joe's tools in there too.  I admit that things were messed up and cluttered, but the pictures were in a pile on top of my desk.  Here's the before.

And here's after I got rid of a bag.  Another bag was gone through on Sunday so it looks even better now.

Joe was finally able to help me get the air conditioner in.  I am so very thankful because I don't think I could have survived this heat without it.

In the afternoon I sat in the cool and worked on the top I am making for myself.  It's about 1/3 finished as of yesterday.

For dinner I made barbecued pork chops, baked potatoes and a salad.

We had fresh strawberries for dessert.

Later in the evening Joe got the munchies.  He went to the 7-11 a block away and brought back some goodies.  He got me my favorite mini shortbread.  What a guy!

Of course I worked on getting the bulletins printed, folded and ready to go for the next day.

I was tired and really ready to go to bed that night.

Thanks for coming along on my day.  It was fun to have you with me.  Hope you all have a good evening.

Kathy

  1. The garden looks splendid, all neat and tidy for Summer, which is just around the corner.
Your lilies are gorgeous, I love the color !
I can't for the life of me understand why a cleaning lady would throw so many important papers and objects away, I would be having a little talk with her :(
Have a wonderful week under that air conditioner Kathy, it's 95 degrees in our neck of the woods today, far too hot and humid for my Norseman blood :)
    Hugs,

  2. What a difference a bag makes! I agree with Jo. It is so obvious that some of those discarded items she should have at least checked with you.Dinner looks delicious! Love those strawberries!

  3. Thanks Kathy for sharing your day. But, like the previous 2 comments noted, it is disturbing what the cleaning lady is tossing and yiu are retrieving as not to be discarded. Perhaps it would be better to put precious items like your wedding photos away from potential discardables. And, yes, it was very nice of Joe to picknup a treat for you.
