A PAIN IN MY HEAD AND A HELP WITH THE HOUSE

The rain finally came yesterday.  For a little bit of the morning it was a downpour.  But by afternoon it was mostly gone.  I was glad because my yard was looking awfully brown.

Yesterday was not a good day for me.  I woke up with a massive headache which turned into a migraine that lasted all day.  I was up for about an hour before I gave in, took pain medication and went back to sleep.  I slept for about five hours.  When I woke up I felt better for about an hour then the headache came back.  I took more medicine and went back to sleep.  Around dinner time it finally went away. Maybe it was the barometric pressure?

I used to have headaches all the time.  Bad ones.  As far back as I can remember (read that as about 5 years old) I have had horrible headaches.  Thank the Lord that has gone away.  Now my headaches are few and far between.  It has been a long time since I have had a headache as bad as the one I had yesterday.

Needless to say nothing got done.  My "to do" list has just a few things crossed off of it.  Mostly eat dinner, do dishes and get dressed.  *sigh*  I had such big plans too.  Now I am a day behind.

So the great post I had planned to make for you fell by the wayside with everything else.

On the other hand, my kitchen is still looking good.  I have had to move a few things that Jenn (my cleaner) had rearranged.  She had put the hand soap and dish detergent toward the back of the counter and being short I couldn't reach it without being on my toes.  And the trays she put on top of the microwave prevented the door from opening.  But those are small things.  And there are a couple of things I haven't found yet.  Where's the cornstarch?  And I think she threw out the scrap paper I was saving for the kids at church to draw on.  But overall I am very happy.

I hired a cleaner two weeks ago because after a year and a half trying to clean up the house I finally got it through my head that I couldn't do it myself.  I needed help.  I hired this lady not only because she has cleaned out hoarding houses and estates, but because when I interviewed her (so glad I had experience in that from work), we hit it off.  I could tell that I could work with her without us butting heads.

Jenn was here for four hours and cleaned and organized the entire kitchen except for one corner that she will do when she returns in three weeks.  The best part about it is that now that it is clean I am able to keep it up with very little effort.  It's now my favorite room in the house.  I know that in a few months every room will be my favorite room in the house. Although it is costing me money, it is the best thing I could have done for myself.

So now I am going to get myself together and start a hopefully headache free day.  There's a little one in my forehead that is trying to form but I'm hoping once I eat breakfast it will go away.

I hope you all have a lovely day.

Kathy

  1. I am so very sorry about the bad headaches from yesterday and do pray today is free of that pain. I do think the barometric pressure has something to do with it, because I rarely have a headache except when it changes drastically from hot to rain and/or cold. Also happy you have someone to clean for you and it will make it so much easier in the future. Happy Saturday to you...dont over-do tho!

  2. Well amen to keeping our ☀️sunny sides up!

Your cleaner sounds marvelous! May she be a big help to you. Inasmuch as it is possible, allow her to make those adjustments. Other than the pay, it it a joy of the job.

Headaches...ugh. Migraines...worse. I hope that better weather makes a difference. A family member struggles with health issues affecting her inner ear when the weather is crazy. I used to think she was crazy, but I don't think so. It does seem to have a strong effect on her.

    1. I am so happy to have hired Jenn. Yes, it is another expense, but my mental and physical health is worth it. Once the house gets all cleaned out, she will come once a month to do a deep cleaning. Life is getting easier.

  4. Kathy, Glad you are better. Some times you might as well just take the medicine as the first sign of your headache. I think it's wonderful you have a cleaning lady...sure wish I did. LOL. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie

    1. I think you are right, Susie. I often wake up with headaches that go away, but this one didn't. I should have taken the medicine sooner.

I love having a cleaning lady. It is helping me out so much.

    1. My headache did go away... for the most part. Well, only one out of nine rooms is clean. But it's a start.

  6. Headaches arecno fun but glad you made it ok. Glad you've found help in your house. Keeping things cleared in the kitchen is hard for me too. I've been busy and have let a few places get cluttered. Need to fix soon. Feel better hopefully tomorrow. Hugs!

  9. I am happy that you are getting help with your house. That IS the best decision you have made. As you said, you love your kitchen now. Just imagine after she is done, you will love every room and it will be such a burden lifted from your mind. You will be able to go do what God has enabled you to do and this menial stuff can be done by someone who has a gift in that area. It is all good! I hope and pray that the headache will never return. That barometric pressure can be a bummer!

  10. Yay for the cleaning lady!! I always wanted one of those ;-) Funny thing is, I WAS one at one time......always imagined what it must feel like to come home to a clean house!
Barometric pressure bothers me at times too. When my DIL and I get a headache on the same day, that's where the blame goes! Hope you had a good couple of days, headache free.

  11. Praying your headache and pain are better today. Having someone come in and get the house in order is such a positive thing when it's hard to do on your own. Don't be negative when you have so much to be positive about and never forget how blessed you are-I was talking with a friend in her 80's yesterday, we talked about looking for the positives in life today and dealing with the negatives as well as we can.
