CELEBRATING VALENTINE'S DAY

Because Joe was injured and just getting out of the hospital we were not able to celebrate Valentine's Day on February 14th.  Even his doctor said to him the other day, "Guess that put a damper on your Valentine's Day!"  But we are not to be detered and decided to celebrate it today.

Every year Joe gives me one red rose.  And each year it is different.  One year he gave me a four-foot high rose.  Another it was in a planter.  A third year the rose was in a vase being held by a teddy bear.  This year he got me a beautiful red rose with a little teddy bear attached.

It smells wonderful!  So fragrant.  I opened it up to put it in water and...  it's made of red velvet.  Red velvet!  It is so real looking and smells exactly like a rose.  I have it in a vase near the stairway in the living room where I can look at it and it is scenting the room.

And instead of candy he got me a package of chocolate chip shortbread.  My two favorite cookies combined.  They are wonderful.

Tonight I made a wonderful dinner for us:  lamb chops, asparagus and fingerling potatoes.

For dessert I made a heart shaped strawberry cake with lemon glaze.

Everything was so good.  I'm glad we finally got to celebrate our Valentine's Day.  It was really nice even if it was a little late.

  6. Better late than never. Glad Joe still spoils you. I'm happy that Megan was able to fix my phone by showing me one thing...use Chrome. Now my cell phone works great on the internet so I can read without losing the page! Sweet! Have a good weekend! Our weather was warm and lovely!
