SNOWFLAKES

When I saw this picture on facebook this afternoon I knew I had to share it with you.  How beautiful!  I hope you think so too.

Yesterday I began taking down my Christmas and replacing it with snowflakes.  The snowmen will join them soon.  But here is what I've accomplished so far.

Goodbye colored Christmas lights.  Hello white lights and a giant snowflake.  I love how my January window looks this year.

The table by the window no longer has a little tree (although I did think about leaving it there).  I found this beautiful lantern at Rite Aid in their 50% off section.  It was the last one there so I actually got it for 70% off.  The battery candle in it flickers like a real candle and is very pretty.  I left my polar bears out and added a bowl of peppermints.

My sister gave me the peppermints for Christmas.  And they were so appropriate.  They even have little snowflakes on their wrappers.

I left the snowflake pillow on the recliner.  It goes along with the season.

Joe had an eye doctor appointment today.  He said his eyes hadn't changed that much.  He was going to get new glasses but...  we found out that as a retiree my eye plan does not cover Joe.  Oops!  So he is waiting until his eye plan kicks in a few months from now and get them then.  The eye exam was only $45 so that wasn't too bad.  But since I found out that I have only six months left on my eye plan and since I lost one pair of my glasses (they are in the house somewhere!), I got a new pair.  My sister doesn't like the ones I currently have, but I think she will like these.  They are golden in color with other colors running through the frames.  I like them a lot even though when I first saw them I thought they were strange looking.  The girl fitting them on me said they were the second pair sold today and it wasn't even 11 a.m. yet.  They had just come in yesterday.  I'm supposed to pick them up by the end of the week and I'll be sure to show you.

After we left the eye doctor we stopped and got gas and then headed over to church where we picked up Pastor Ralph and Carolyn and we all went out to Chick-Fil-A for lunch.  I had the grilled chicken nuggets and fries and here it is 6 hours later and I am still full.  Joe and I decided we would just snack for dinner tonight because we are not hungry.

I guess you can gather with all this running around that very little cleaning has been done.  But I will do it because I am very determined.  Just probably not tonight.

I am going to run and feed the outside cats.  Last night one of them banged against the back door because there was no food out.  He or she is a bad one -- fighting with some of the others.  But very cute.

So until tomorrow...

Kathy

    1. Well, Linda, I put my snowflakes up with scotch tape. I know it's not the best, but it works. I did use the Command holders for awhile, too. I must have left them on too long, though (about six months) because they were hard to get off when I finally went to remove them. We are supposed to have snow this week too. Have fun at your camper!

  4. The opening picture is beautiful! It exudes calm...I think I'd stand there for awhile just savoring the view...Your new decorating is so you! You manage to arrange things in such neat groupings..the lantern is my favorite.Aren't we to leave a candle in the window to show the way home? Love it! We do snowmen too in January. My bathroom now has penguins/ polar bears. Looking forward to seeing the new glasses!

    1. I think the picture is beautiful too. I can look at it for a long time. So glad you like my decorating. More to come. I think you leave a candle in the window on Christmas Eve but I'm not sure about that. You will be one of the first to see the new glasses. I think you will like them.

  5. Kathy, I am not a big fan of winter and I do love this picture. The orange glow of the sun make sit look a bit warm. :):) I like your decorations , especially the lantern with the tree cutouts. Insurance juggling is a fine art...of which I can't seem to master. Hope Joe's glasses do okay till his insurance does take over. Stay warm honey. Blessings to you both, xoxo, Susie

    1. Thanks, Susie. It just looks so bare after Christmas that I do a little decorating. I love that lantern too. Joe's glasses didn't need to be changed, he just wanted to get a new pair.

    2. I never thought of it as decorating for winter but I guess it is. I just thought it looked so bare in January.

  8. Love the snowflake and white lights! So cheery on a cold night. We put away the Christmas things on Monday, all except the outside lights. Now it's going to get colder so I guess they will stay put for awhile
Looking forward to seeing your new glasses....so much fun!

  9. Phil took the outside lights off our rhody bush. I miss seeing them on my way home. Sigh! Will take the small fiber optic Christmas tree down this weekend. It's been cold all week, freezing at night and part of the day. No rain or snow. Maybe this Saturday though and we have plans. Will see what happens.

  10. Hi Kathy! I just love the winter picture you posted. Maybe you will get some of that beautiful snow soon. I really like your winter decorations as well. Your lantern is just lovely....I like the cut-out trees. I have a black lantern too, but it is just a black lantern. Can't wait to see your new glasses. I bet they are pretty and go with your complexion.
