NEW YEAR'S 2017

Happy New Year!  I had several calendars I wanted to use this year and I couldn't decide between them, so you will see three scattered through the month.  So many beautiful calendars are around this year.

We came home from the open house fairly early last night to get parking.  It's usually so crowded because of the string band members using our street to park.  In fact Pastor Ralph came to get us this morning for church and Jim and Carol N. brought us home so we didn't have to move our car.  Next year won't be a problem since New Year's Day won't be on a Sunday.  We had such a good time at the Open House, though.  Joe wasn't sure he was going to go because he is still not completely well, but he did go and had a good time.

Joe tried to stay up to see in the New Year when we got home, but he was just too sick so he went to bed around 10:30 p.m.  I wasn't tired, though, so I did stay up.  I looked all over the TV to find the Philadelphia fireworks but it wasn't televised.  So...

My brother Larry and sister-in-law Kim were on the Spirit of Philadelphia.  It's a ship which cruises along the Delaware River.  They give just cruises or cruises with dinner and the New Year's Eve cruise is famous.  Larry took a video of the fireworks from the ship and posted it on facebook.  So I "borrowed" it.  Seriously, I know he won't mind that I did this.  The link is right here.

Today after church Joe said he didn't want lunch, he just wanted to go to bed.  And he did.  I ate some left over snacks and then sat down to watch TV and fell asleep myself.  So much for getting to see the parade!  I woke up in time to see the last 2 hours so I got to see the string bands which is my favorite part anyway.

For dinner I made a ham steak, green bean casserole and herbed rolls.  I had a can of crescent rolls in the refrigerator.  I wanted to use them, but wanted to change it up a little.  So I got the idea to use herbs.  I rolled them out flat, put some butter and thyme on them, then rolled them up into crescents as usual.  They turned out so good!  I'm now thinking of other things I can do with them.

I began my temperature afghan today.  Oh boy, I have one row of light green.  Ha, ha!  I think it will look a lot better when I show it to you at the end of the month.

It was warm today but boy is it cold now!  I have the heat on, the fire going and I'm shivering.  I think I have to go to bed and get under the covers.

It has been a good beginning to the new year.  Much better than last year.  I hope this is the start of a good 2017.

Happy New Year everyone!

Kathy

  1. I hope Joe gets to feeling better very soon! I think we are supposed to get cold weather next weekend but it is comfortable here. No A/C or attic fan needed but I do have to shut the kitchen door before we go to bed....but I will leave the bedroom door open a bit!

    1. It is cold here. In the low 40s. We would not be leaving the door open. Glad your weather is better. Joe feels better, but is still not there.

    1. You can use whatever herbs you want. I read about using rosemary and also of using Italian seasoning and garlic powder. Crescent rolls are so easy to use in so many different things.

    1. I often nap on a Sunday afternoon. It's my luxury. Crescent rolls are so versatile. I use them for a lot of things. I have goals for 2017 but let's see if I can live up to them.

  9. Our snow is almost gone now, just little patches in plants but it's cold and below freezing most of the week at night. We've been so busy at work with more people buying cold weather items, still. It's been cold most of last month. I saw your brother's video and it was good! Thanks for sharing it. Hope Joe feels better soon. Nice to have someone pick you up for church and bring you home. Happy New Year!
