ANOTHER DAY, ANOTHER DOCTOR

It's been raining all day and I'm a little waterlogged.  But it could be worse.  If the line of cold air had been a little closer it would all be snow.  But we are having lovely temperatures instead of the freezing cold.

First of all I want to answer a lot of you who asked about my blood tests.  I have a blood test every three months with my primary to see my cholesterol level, my sugar level, my thyroid hormone, etc.  I thought everyone did it.  I've done it for years.  So it's just routine nothing that I'm sick with or anything.  And as to seeing my oncologist today, it's my six month check up.  And every time I have blood drawn to check my CA125 and other things like hemoglobin count.  Again, just routine not because I am sick.  I am very touched that everyone was so concerned but there is no need to be.

Unlike yesterday I barely got in the door before I was taken back to get my blood taken and then was ushered into the exam room.  I waited for the doctor less than 5 minutes.  I love Dr. Bryansmith.  I have been going to him for about 12 years (he and I were trying to figure that out today -- we both said we were getting old).  He is the best doctor I have and I feel comfortable telling him everything.  And I did.  He helped me figure out what other doctors I need to see and in what order so that I am not overwhelmed.

When I got home I made some lemon poppyseed muffins for my tea.  I have begun having tea at 4:00 p.m. each day.  It is a nice relaxing time.  Today Joe got up to join me.  He is usually asleep while I do this, so he was surprised and very pleased.  We both love lemon muffins.

But now the kitchen is a wreck.  I have to get off of here and get the dishes washed and things straightened up.  Have a good night everyone!

Kathy

  1. Hi Kathy! I'm glad you're okay and that you really like your doctor. Sometimes it's hard to find a good one and to think you've had yours for 12! I like the sound of having tea and muffins in the afternoon. Oh, do you use those little packages of muffin mix? I love the lemon poppy and use it a lot. Again, I always appreciate your visits.
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia ;)

    1. Yes, I do use the package mixes. I love Martha White brand but others are good too. I made 8 muffins so we have them for today too.

  2. Oh a blessing to like your doctor and to have had one that long. I went through three in less than two years (they left me not the other way around) and now have only a nurse practitioner. It does not inspire confidence. Glad that all is well. You're making me hungry for lemon poppyseed muffins. (I obviously was interrupted the first time I read this...just making my way back.)

    1. It is a blessing to like your doctor. I've had some I've not been too fond of. My primary is a nurse practitioner and I love her too.

    1. It is hard to find a good doctor. I've gotten rid of several because I just did not like them.

  4. Having a doctor you like and trust is such a blessing. I have one of those too! She sees me every four months, so I understand the "usual check-up" thing. These days it is so important to stay ahead of anything that could be going wrong! Tea at 4:00 sounds so British! :)

    1. Tea does sound British, doesn't it? We have found that this way we aren't starving for dinner. We usually eat around 7 unless we are going somewhere.

  5. I'm playing catch up today! I used to have to have blood work every 6 months but now only go once a year and I love that!
I love your Tea Time idea and will be sending you a book Louis Dean and I just finished. It's Tea Time With God and I think you will love it! Let me know if you already have it!

    1. I think eventually it will get to once a year. But I like that it's every six months because he keeps up on other things going on with me too.

I do not have that book. Thank you Linda!
