A VISIT TO THE DOCTOR

Such a lovely picture.  I thought you might like it.

I didn't sleep well last night.  Joe was restless and that woke me up all night.  *sigh*  I ended up getting up around 5:30 a.m.   I had a fasting blood test today at 9:45 a.m. so I had a long wait until breakfast.  So what did I do?  I ripped out my entire temperature afghan and did it over.  I was having trouble with the colors and discovered I was one off and it would never work out.  So I spent three hours redoing it and now it is working.  It's not as colorful, but it will be as I go along and the weather gets warmer.  I spent so much time on it and was so intent on finishing that I ended up giving myself only 15 minutes to get showered, dressed and out of the door.  I have to stop doing this.

Since the doctor is just three blocks from my house I got there just in time.  And then I waited -- for 45 minutes.  I was starving.  There were two elderly women who came in right before me and were sitting near me.  The one was complaining because she hadn't eaten before she came.  What was wrong with the doctor that he was taking so long?  Then when the other woman said she had eaten breakfast, the one who hadn't eaten started yelling at her because she thought they were going out to breakfast together and that was why she hadn't eaten.  Breakfast at 10:30 a.m.?  OK.

After they went in, I was next.  Another elderly woman came in, walking very slowly with a cane.  She sat down without signing in.  When I was called in, she started yelling at the tech. (Everyone was yelling today.) She asked why I was going in when all she needed was blood work and she hadn't eaten.  Hmm...  do you see a trend here?  She asked if I was having blood work and the tech said yes.  When I was in the room having my blood drawn she apologized to me.  She said that lady was always rude and she just said yes to shut her up.  But it was really none of her business.  I said that was OK.  This poor girl also had not had breakfast and you could hear her stomach rumbling.

As you can guess by the time I got out of there around 11 a.m. I was starving.  So I went to Wawa and got a couple of breakfast sandwiches for Joe and me.  You know I ate that quickly.

And then for the rest of the day I watched TV and slept.  I was so tired from not sleeping last night.  Now the trick will be to sleep tonight.

But I am going to try.  I have another doctor appointment tomorrow with more blood work involved.  *sigh*  Hopefully I will be more productive though.

Until later...

Kathy

  3. We are called to be lights in a dark world and you were certainly a light in that doctor's office. God bless you and I hope that there is nothing wrong because you are having more bloodwork done. Be well, my friend.

    1. There is nothing wrong. Just my three month bloodwork at my primary and my six month at my oncologist.

  4. There is nothing much more frustrating than a doctor's office that is running that far behind. I am sure that everyone was quite miserable having not eaten. Your story of the poor woman who thought she was going out for breakfast made me laugh. Praying for good reports on all the lab work. Sleep in heavenly peace tonight and may Joe do likewise.

    1. She wasn't nice at all. She was nasty even to her friend. The other woman was almost in tears. I hope I never get like that. I'm sure all the bloodwork is fine. It's just routine.

  6. That is a beautiful photo, but I sure wouldn't want to be walking in it! I get so frustrated when doctor appointments take so long. Hope your wait tomorrow won't be as bad as today's!!

    1. You made me laugh, Susie. I think you are right. They should have a breakfast bar in the waiting room.

  8. This is exactly why we love our guest room! If one of us is restless, in order to NOT keep the other one awake, we go to the guest room. It's been a huge sleep saver!
