WHAT A DAY!

This is such a beautiful tree, but it looks so cold.  Still, I like it and I hope you do too.

First before I forget again, Joe says to thank you for all your prayers on his behalf both for his health and for his missing wallet.  He said it touched his heart to know that you cared so much for him.  God has His people everywhere.  Sometimes we forget that.

We did find Joe's wallet (finally) yesterday morning.  It was under the bed with his shoes in front of it.  How it ever got there I have no idea.  But we are very thankful that it was found.  Not to brag but three guesses who found it and it wasn't Joe.

I woke up yesterday morning at 3 a.m. and couldn't go back to sleep so I got up and started my day.  However, because I was so tired, I ended up on the computer and watching TV most of the day.  It was a lazy day for sure.

I can't find any of my hats.  I think we must have a black hole somewhere in this house where all our missing things get sucked into.  But I have tons of yarn, so I made myself a hat yesterday.  I used a wool/angora blend from Ireland along with a thin variegated yarn.  After three false starts, I finally got the gauge right and finished it in one day.  I'm glad because it is cold out.

I will post yesterday's temperatures below.  It was the coldest night in Philadelphia in 8 years.  I mean COLD.  The whole house was cold and I couldn't get warm.  I wore my heavy sweater all day.  I had the fire going too.  It just took the chill off.  So what to do to get warm?  Bake!

I baked some chocolate chip cookies for Joe and me.  I would put my hands in front of the oven to try to warm them up while I was working.  They were like ice and hurt.  Oh the joys of poor circulation!  But at least I have hands and I am thankful for that.

After dinner I started cleaning off the coffee table.  It is a spot where everything gets dumped.  Doesn't everyone have a table like that?  I am almost finished.  I figure by noon I will have it done and decorated.  Then on to picking up the floor.  I'm getting there.  Everything I do is one less thing to do later.  Plus it makes me feel good.

I am so excited about tomorrow.  Not only is my former pastor the guest speaker at church, but in the evening we have our Christmas Cafe.  It is a gathering we have every Christmas with live music, food, beverages and a great time with our friends.  You can see the former years by clicking here

Last Christmas was so sad.  We had no pastor.  We had no special music.  But the Elders carried on.  Only a few people showed up and just Bud and I played music and then threw on some CDs.  Last year.

This year we have so many guest musicians coming and even a Christmas Carol sing-along planned.  It is going to be great.  You know I'll have something for you to see.

So now I will get off of here and start my day.  Lots to do.  More cookies to bake.  I am doing more chocolate chip cookies today, but these are to give away.

Until later...

Kathy

  1. Well- for having a "lazy" day after getting up so early- I would say you got a LOT done!!! A HAT? You KNITTED A HAT? LOL I have never knitted but I am pretty sure I couldn't do one in one day. I have a black hole in our house, too. All of MyHero's stuff seems to get sucked into it-never to be found again.

I am excited about your church get-together for you...last year was a sad one in that respect, I know. God bless you, Kathy. I hope you have a wonderful weekend. It is cold here, too. High of MINUS 20 tomorrow with wind chill and we got snow yesterday and have more coming all day today. Whoopee--kid heaven--me? Not so heavenly! xo Diana

    1. I will not complain about our weather after hearing you have a HIGH of MINUS 20. Brrr. I don't think I could ever live there. Move to a warmer climate, Diana!

Glad I'm not the only one with a black hole in the house.

  3. Kathy, I think God was smiling down on your gathering , no matter how small. I like your hat. I need a sweater like yours with a nice collar to get my neck warm. :):) So glad Joe has his wallet....are you sure he wanted you to find it. LOL. Blessings and hugs to both of you...stay warm and safe. It's icy here and scary. xoxo, Susie

    1. I got my sweater when I was in Tennessee last February. It was cold there. I found it at Walmart and have worn it more than any other article of clothing I have. It is nice and warm and even has pockets.

I'm glad Joe's wallet is found also. There was no money in it, but all his identification.

It is icy and scary here too.

  4. Yay... the lost is found! And you whipped up a hat, that is impressive.
So many things to be thankful for this time of year.

Stay warm. I always vacuum when I am cold but baking cookies is soooo much more fun.

    1. I agree -- baking is way more fun than running the vacuum.

    1. Thanks, Debbie! I like the hat and it was so easy to make. There was no money in the wallet, but we sure needed the ID. I always give away cookies at church on the Sunday nearest Christmas. Didn't you get some last year? If not, you will this time. I didn't go out yesterday either. The outside cats didn't get fed. I'll feed them twice today. See you soon!

  7. God answered our prayers! I am so glad that you found Joe's wallet. I know that he needed it for treatment at the VA.

It was so icy here this morning that churches were closed and they are closed tonight since it did not warm up one little bit. Our Christmas Candle lighting program was for tonight. I don't know if it will be rescheduled or not.

Hope you have a lovely time at your church tonight. Take care and stay warm.

  9. Let me guess, the cat found Joe's wallet? I think I missed that post! I've been misplacing my gloves. The other day I was at a store. I pulled off my hat and when I went to put it back on, a glove fell out of it! Where was the other one? At home! Did the same thing at a restaurant today...one in my pocket and the other in my purse. Stop it! I've been tired this week and am working on getting to bed sooner. I got my cards out so am working on clearing off dining room table and decorating for Christmas a bit more. It's still chilly and a bit of snow on the ground. Fog all day and no walking for me again as it's 30 degrees out. 40 tomorrow forecasted. My friend had a lady make bag for me and she makes specific military bags like that one I got. It has fabric at the top as well. Happy week my friend and I like the photo of you! Cute! MeRrY CHRISTmas to you and Joe! **{/\}**
