JUST A QUICK UPDATE

Only 19 days to go!  I can't believe it!

This is going to be a short post today.  I don't even have any pictures to show you.  I am so very tired.  The last two days have been tough.

Monday Joe and I got up at 5 a.m. and by 6 a.m. we were off to Pennsylvania Hospital for Joe's procedure.  It was pitch black and the stars were out.  The good thing was there was very little traffic.  I was trying to remember exactly how we went the last time we were there and I made all the right turns and got there in 20 minutes.  I even found the parking lot on the small back street.

We got Joe checked in and I sat in the waiting room while they took him back.  I had taken my medicine but hadn't had time to eat breakfast.  So even though there were signs about not eating or drinking, I ate two breakfast bars and sipped on a bottle of water.  No one said anything to me.  I had taken a book and actually read about 100 pages.  I also had a notebook with me and made a list of everything I have to get done before Christmas.  It's quite a list!

After about 2 hours Joe came back and we went home.  As we stepped outside I said, "Wow!  There's daylight!"  It was still dark as night when we went into the building and there were no windows where we were.  Now we are just waiting for the results of his biopsy but I am sure it is nothing.  I'd be very surprised if it was anything significant.  But always better safe than sorry.

Needless to say when we got home Joe ate something and then slept off the anesthesia. I took a nap myself.  So I didn't get much done that day.

Today I got up and printed out the handouts for my last Ladies Bible Study for the season.  It was just Debbie and me, but we had a good study with the two of us.

After the study we went to see Dottie, our 93-year-old member of the group who is no longer able to get out.  She was so happy to see us.  We were going to stay 15-20 minutes, but ended up staying about 45.  She needed help to go to the bathroom and to get her medicine so we gave her a hand and left her in good shape when we went.  She asked us to visit her again and we will.  I'm hoping some other people will also go to see her because she is very lonely.  She has a golden lab (I think) dog who is very protective of her.  It takes Milo a bit to warm up to you but then he is fine.  I'm glad he is there for her.

When I got home I ate right away and then left to go to my eye doctor appointment.  I thought I would be late, but got there right on time.  I took Joe with me so that he could drive home because my eyes would be dilated.  I had a very good exam and I can keep the glasses I have.  Dr. Moore said I had changed so little that it wasn't worth changing my prescription.  So the whole visit cost me... NOTHING.  The exam was covered in whole by my insurance.  I like this.  So before my insurance runs out, Joe is getting his eyes checked in January.  I have the insurance from work for two years so it's a good deal.  I am trying to get everything done while I can.

And that's about it.  Too much running around this week and not enough time for cleaning and decorating.  Tomorrow it's more of the same and even more on Thursday and Friday.  This is my busiest week before Christmas.  Hopefully once this week is done I can get to work on the essentials.

Here's some more Christmas movies I've watched:
A Wish for Christmas (2016)

Sara is the type of woman who prefers to sit on the sidelines at work, but when her big idea for a Christmas initiative is stolen, she makes a wish to Santa that she'll finally have the courage to stand up for herself. Santa grants her wish but only gives her 48 hours. Stars Lacey Chabert and Paul Greene.

On the Twelfth Day of Christmas (2015)
Maggie is thrilled when her long time crush, Mitch, moves to her little town. Once she discovers Mitch’s love for Christmas has drastically changed, she vows to bring his holiday spirit back. Determined to show him the magic of Christmas, Maggie creates 12 Christmas gifts that ask him to do fun tasks in order to renew his love for the season and explore his feelings towards her. Stars Robin Dunne and Brooke Nevin.

'Tis the Season for Love (2015)

An out-of-work actress returns to her quaint hometown where a Christmas romance proves the life she once left behind could turn out to be even better than Broadway. Stars Sarah Lancaster, Brendan Penny and Gwynyth Walsh.

And that's all I have for you today.  I'll write as much as I can during this hectic week.

  1. Glad that's over for you and Joe! Hope his results come back good.
There's always way more to do than we can possibly manage to accomplish this month. Pick top priorities and do the best you can.....

  3. Praying for a good report for Joe. It was a good visit with Dottie. Milo is one good sized boy! I'm glad she has him as he is so attentive to her. Be sure to take a few minutes to sip a cup of tea.
    Merry Christmas!

  4. I'm praying that the test results will be negative and you can put that worry behind you. You have been busy!! How nice to visit with your 93 year old friend. I'm happy she has her dog for company, but like your idea to round up some others to visit her now and then. It's so important. Nice that you don't have the expense of new glasses! Have a blessed day!
