THE BEGINNING OF A BUSY THREE WEEKS -- YES THREE!

We're such an ungrateful people sometimes.  I am trying to be thankful every day of my life.  There is so much to be thankful for.

The next three weeks are going to be so very busy.  And then there's Christmas.  Whew!

I've been having such a hard time shaking off this virus -- or whatever it is.  I'm fine for a day or two and then the fever comes back and I'm very tired.  I spent the last two days sleeping most of the time.  I can't get stuff done around the house if I'm asleep most of the time.  But I need to get well so I guess if I need to sleep it off, I will.

I was really happy today to go through a big box in the living room and actually get rid of it.  Much of what was in it went into recycling.  There is so much more room now.  It makes me feel so good to actually get something out of the house.  Maybe I'm on a roll and can actually get the living room done by the end of the week.  I hope so.

I wore my new necklace that Joe gave me the other day.  I really love it.  Anything that turquoise color is perfect for me.  This is a lapis lazuli stone.

After the disaster with the lemon poppy seed bread I decided to take a break and bake some sugar cookies instead.  These didn't fall apart, but they disappeared quickly.  They were so good.

Last Thursday was the Elders Meeting.  I offered to bring the snack.  I knew a lot of people had food allergies so I was wracking my brain to figure out what to bring.  Finally I thought of my sister's ambrosia.  I emailed her to get the ingredients and she answered me right away.  I made it and it was a big hit.  Everyone loved it and there was NONE to bring home.  It really is good.

Today on the way home from church we stopped at the 7-11 a block from my house to get gas.  Since I am not working I have gone from filling the tank every week to filling it every three weeks.  There are advantages to not working.  While Joe was pumping the gas I was watching the Ferko String Band practicing for the New Year's Day parade.  It is so cool to live near so many of the string bands.

I took a little video of them too.

It was really cold and windy today.  When I looked out the kitchen window I saw the furniture and trash cans all over the yard.  I went out to straighten everything up.  I threw out the recycling and fed the outside cats.  When I looked out again, it was even worse than before I started.  I just left it for tonight.  Hopefully tomorrow the winds will have lessened and I can straighten everything up again.

So that is what's been going on.  Hopefully tomorrow I can continue on with my cleaning and get some nap time in.

I hope you all have a great evening.

Kathy

  1. I agree about getting rest. You must need it & it's your body's way of healing. The sugar cookies look yummy. They wouldn't have lasted with me either.Ha ha!

  2. For goodness sake, yes to resting and listening to your body! If the next three weeks will be that busy, you need to be healthy!! My Joe is from Philly and we have watched the Mummers parade on TV a few times when we were up there at his folks' for the holiday. So much fun! I enjoyed the video!

    1. I am feeling much better, thanks, Diane. I just want it to warm up a bit. Not a lot, but just enough that I'm not freezing.

  4. It's very windy here too. Since we are surrounded by huge trees, wind makes me nervous :/
