STARTING THE COUNTDOWN

Good morning this cold day.  As I write this it is 56* outside which may not seem cold to some of you but is to me.  Looks like it's time for a nice cup of hot tea for me.  Or maybe some cocoa.

It poured all day yesterday and it's supposed to do the same today with thunderstorms.  It has been dry for so long and now the ground is saturated.  My yard is all mud.  BUT... I'd rather have rain than snow.

This is going to be short because I have to leave in an hour to take my car in to the garage.  I have been having trouble with it and I think there is a problem with the power steering pump.  Besides I need it inspected.  So off I go.  Even if I don't drive the car every day anymore, I like having it there to run errands if I need to.  I'm lost when it's in for service.  But I think I'll survive.

                    😉😉😉😉😉

Not being able to run around will force me to get things done around here.  I am DETERMINED to clean and decorate.  Every day I seem to find something else to do instead of that.  Do you get the idea that I hate to clean?  There's just so many other things I want to do in life.  But...

I really have made a dent in the place.  It is still messed up but getting better.  And I will show you as I go along.  Promise.  I keep telling myself that since I am up long before Joe is I should clean in the morning and when he comes downstairs he will stare in disbelief.  Ah...  the dream.  But someday that may actually happen.

Yesterday we finished the last of the 7 churches of Revelation in Bible Study.  Next week there is a summary and then we are finished for the season.  We ladies always take the holiday season and the winter off.  Too much to do and the weather gets too bad.  I don't want anyone (me included) to slip on ice or get into a car accident trying to get to church.  Besides it is nice for me to take a break.  Then we start up again in the spring when the weather is better.  Usually around the start of Lent.

It's time for the Hallmark Christmas movies summary.  Here's what I've been watching:

Hats Off to Christmas (2013) -- Mia, the manager of a small town's Christmas shop, has to train Nick, the owner's son, for a position she coveted. Mia does not like Nick's unreliable ways until he helps convince her disabled son to continue physical therapy so he can walk again. With Haylie Duff and Antonio Cupo.

Christmas at Cartwrights (2014) -- a single mom gets a holiday job as a department store Santa to pay her rent. An angel enters her life and brings about some positive changes, including the spark of a new romance.  With Alicia Witt, Gabriel Horton and Wallace Shawn.

I'm Not Ready for Christmas (2015) -- Holly's world is turned upside down when her niece's wish to Santa Claus comes true and she cannot tell a lie. As her career and love life go into disarray, she must learn to judge between the truth and what is right.  With Alicia Witt, Maxwell Caulfield and Dan Lauria.

I want to say I love them, but I have discovered there is not one that I don't love.  So let's just say that Hallmark movies make my holiday season.

So I have to run to get ready for the day.  See you all tomorrow.

  1. We've been catching a Hallmark movie here and there too. They always have happy endings, which I love! I hear you one the cleaning and decorating. Gotta get to it. It's the last thing I want to do when I get home from work.

    1. I understand completely. I thought being retired would be different, but I'm still running errands and doing things.

  2. Hallmark does have good Christmas movies, don't they? I used to clean very early in the morning so that I had the whole day spread out of ahead of me...and I loved being able to sit with a cup of coffee and look around at a clean house...especially when I had four young kids at home....and a mom that was not well living with us. Sometimes it felt like that was the only control I had in the day--to have a neat house (until kids/mom started in). Wish I lived closer- I would come help you! I have a couple of friends that hated cleaning and I helped them clean....it was actually kind of fun. Too bad you couldn't enlist Joe to help you do a chore or two. He might surprise you!

Have a great day! xo Diana

    1. I tend to clean in the morning too. I have more energy. I agree, it's easier to clean someone else's home than it is your own.

  3. Kathy, you come up here and clean my house and I'll go down there and clean yours! It's always more fun to clean someone else's house. 🙂 I am setting small goals. Tomorrow, I am going to put on the holiday music and crank it up. Hope that your car is an easy fix.
