WHAT I DID ON MY SUMMER VACATION... I MEAN SATURDAY AFTERNOON

And it was so warm that I just walked out of my house without having to wear a jacket.  Yes!

That jolt when I pulled out of the parking space in front of my house was not me hitting something.  The camera was just laying on the dashboard and it shifted as I turned.  Just saying.

I went around lunch time and it was really busy at the farm.  I got the things I wanted at the farm stand and then walked into the greenhouse to see what they had.  As I walked out I sort of panned around to show you the place.  I aimed low because I didn't want to get people's faces.

Here are some other shots from the farm.

There were all kinds of pumpkins and squash there.  Lots of different varieties.

This is the display they had when you first walked in the gate.

Winter pansies.  I love them.  I didn't have the money to get them today so I hope they are still there in two weeks when I get paid.

The sign with these said they were pie pumpkins.

Ornamental kale.  One year I had a whole row of it against the fence in my yard.  I might buy this too.

Here's what I got from the farm:  tomatoes (really nice ones), sweet potatoes (I had forgotten to get them at the store), a spaghetti squash, a red onion, and the toy for Snowy.

I hope you enjoyed coming along with me.  See you later.

  1. Oh, the BEST time I've had visiting with you today!! I do love a farm market---especially a FALL one, and those arrangements are splendid. I always want at least ONE of every pumpkin and gourd and mum

But the nicest part was a little glimpse of YOU, just talking---your voice and inflection and accent so different from my own slow drawl. I played one of them twice, just imagining I'd just met a faraway friend (as I have, with a couple of other dear blog-friends) and we were just chatting over coffee. WHAT FUN!

Especially the cheery "SEE YA!" at the close.

    1. Thank you so much, Rachel. You are very kind. I thought it was fun doing those videos for you and then wondered if people would think I was strange. Glad you enjoyed it.

  2. That was FUN, Kathy- seeing you and hearing your voice. Felt like I was traveling right along with you. I can hear the PA in your voice--sounds like home to me. I love farm markets and haven't been to one this fall yet...but have been to a pumpkin patch with my grandson. Hope you have a blessed Sunday- xo Diana

    1. Thank you, Diana. Glad to give you a little bit of home even if it was just my accent. I have never been to a pumpkin patch. It sounds like fun!

  3. Your neighborhood is adorable. I don't see Row Houses around here so it's fun to "visit".
    That was fun!

    1. Thanks, Christine. We have very few single houses in my neighborhood. Almost all are row houses. Glad I could show them to you. I'll have to do this again.

    1. Thank you, Jodi. You too. I love going to the farm. So fortunate that there is an actual working farm close by in the city.

  9. Hi Kathy! I loved seeing your videos even if your camera shifted! Maybe since it's October there was a spook messing with it! :) What a lovely place and to visit. I've seen some of those little pie pumpkins too. I guess I don't know much 'cuz I thought all pumpkins were pie pumpkins! :) Thanks for popping in to see me.
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia ;)

    1. Ha, ha Sheila. I think you may be right about those spooks! There is a difference between pie pumpkins and jack-o-lantern pumpkins. Although you can make pies out of all of them, pie pumpkins are sweeter and make better pies.

  10. I remember your trips to the farm. I think that it is so unique to shop at a farm. I have a question. When you buy pansies and kale, how long do they last before it is too cold for them to be outside?

    1. I have had winter pansies bloom through the winter. They do not seem to die with the first frost. I think the snow is what killed them. But not really kill, because they came back in the spring. It seemed to be only the heat of summer that did them in. The kale I have not had in many years, so I'm not sure about that. But I know they last pretty far into the winter months.
