SHOP TILL YOU DROP

I love this picture and was so happy when I found it online.  We don't have that kind of color here... yet.

This was a great shopping day.  I had planned to go so many places to get everything I needed for Harvest Day on Sunday and I did just that.  I picked up Debbie and off we went.

Our first stop was Salvation Army to drop off some clothes we wanted to donate.  Both of us wanted to see the inside of the place, so I found a parking place and we went in.  I was sort of disappointed.  It's been years since I was there and it is so run down.  But they had some nice things.  The only thing I got was a cute snowman teapot.  It will be a gift for someone.  For $1.59 I just couldn't pass it up.  Debbie got a few things.

We left there and headed over to church so Debbie could put the lemonade and iced tea she bought for Sunday in the fridge.  Then it was off to the stores.

We started off at Target.  I have been wanting a couple of those little square plaid plates.  I have looked at them four times and put them back.  Finally I decided that if I wanted them that much I would regret not getting them, so I wanted to pick them up.  I did with a lot of other things.

Here they are!  I got two of the gold plaid and two of the silver plaid.  The white/silver is sort of hard to see, but it's there and looks like the brown/gold one.  I also got the last ceramic pumpkin dish.  I had been saying to Debbie that I wanted to look for one to put chips in for Harvest Day.  She looked down and said, "Like that?"  It was the last one on the shelf and was perfect.  I grabbed it.  Thank you so much, Deb!

Here's another picture of the pumpkin and the little dishes along with a pretty ceramic pie plate.  When I originally saw the pie plates there were several different designs.  Now there was just this one.  But it's pretty so I am happy.  It's an 8" pie plate.  I have a 9" ceramic one from Cracker Barrel, so now I have a choice.

I also got some candy for Sunday, some little ceramic pumpkins for decorating the tables, a pair of Halloween socks for me and a tube of Burt's Bees pomegranate lip balm.  I also got us a couple of packages of Pepperidge Farm cookies and some Coke Zero for Joe.  Because almost everything was from the Dollar Corner or on sale I got it really reasonably.  I was so happy.

We were both hungry by this time so we headed for Sonic for lunch.

We both got the chicken strips meal.  It was really good.  Debbie got an iced tea and I got a cranberry slush.  Oh how I love cranberry slushes.  It is going to be my go to beverage from now through Christmas.

I still had a few things to get for Sunday and we were going to head over to Dollar Tree but decided instead to see what was in the new One Dollarzone that just opened.  What a nice store!  We will definitely be back.  And I got everything else I needed.

I got flowers to put on each table, tablecloths for the serving tables and the round tables we will eat at, dessert plates, plasticware, and little cups that I will put the candy in.  I got the napkins at Target and tablecloths at Dollarzone and they matched.  What are the chances?  I still have the maple leaf shaped candle holders from last year so I will use those also.  It will look nice.

I was going to do my food shopping too, but decided to wait until tomorrow.  I was tired.  I was so tired I came home and took a nap.

It's been a great day but now I have to get some sleep so I can get up and get things done tomorrow.  Have a good night!

Kathy

    1. I hope I am. I like to shop but I'm a big bargain hunter. On the other hand, I want what I want and won't settle for less.

  4. Hi Kathy! I'm glad I'm sitting down because you've made me tired! ;) What a fun and busy day! You picked up some cute things. Love that little pumpkin and your square plates. I've never heard of a Dollar Zone but I would love to go into one! ;) Thanks for popping in to see me.

    1. I've never heard of DollarZone either. It's a new store so you know I had to check it out. It's like a higher end dollar store. Such fun to see all the things.

  5. Harvest Sunday is going to be great at your church. You give so much attention to detail. I love that! I hope that you take a picture of the table so we can see the ceramic pumpkin and other decorations for the meal. I've never heard of DollarZone either.

    1. I hope this is going to be great. The first year I ended up in the hospital because my recent incision opened up so I didn't get to go. The second year was really wonderful except that Joe got sick and I had to take him home. Last year there was a huge argument and a lot of the members left the church (Joe and I were going to leave but things happened that we ended up staying). So this is the fourth year. Let's see what happens.
