HAPPY HALLOWEEN

Happy Halloween everyone!  Hope you all had a fun-filled day.  Did you get a lot of kids knocking at your door tonight?  We prepared for 30-50 kids.

About 11 kids showed up.  I think.  I lost count but I think it was that.  Do you think we have candy left?  This was the worst Halloween turnout we have ever had.  And it wasn't just us.  I looked out the door about 12 times and there was no one around.  Not on the streets anywhere.  You couldn't even hear kids laughing and talking.  Usually we get the teenagers around 7:30 or 8:00 at the latest, but no one showed up.  Think we have a lot of candy left?  We will be sharing the wealth, I think.

We tried another snack from the free ones we got the other day.  This was rice chips with sriracha flavor.

When I first put a chip in my mouth I thought, "Wow, these are wonderful flavors!" And then it hit.  Boy were these hot!  I think it burned my palate.  They were good but I'd have to think twice about whether to buy them or not.  I like hot things, but these were HOT.  So it's a tentative thumbs up for me.  And for Joe a definite thumbs up.

The sunset was so great tonight.  I looked out the window and knew I had to get a picture of it.

The "Fall Harvest" movie I want to tell you about today was called "Autumn Dreams" (2015).  With big plans to leave their small Iowan town, teenage loves Annie (Jill Wagner) and Ben (Colin Egglesfield) elope. Their big city plans are halted, though, when Annie’s parents have the marriage annulled, and Annie stays behind in Iowa to help her family. Fifteen years later, when Annie is engaged in Iowa and Ben is engaged in New York, they discover that their annulment was never finalized. Annie and Ben reunite to make their divorce legal, but find themselves reminiscing about what could have been if they had stayed together. OK, just from the description you know how the movie ends.  But that's OK.  It's just a nice story.

Contrary to popular belief, I do not watch every movie that comes onto the Hallmark Network.  I am picky what I watch.  It's just nice to have clean movies with a nice story.

So Halloween is over and so is October.  I don't know how that happened.  Tomorrow starts (for me) the holiday season.  Just a few more weeks and it will be one year since I retired from work.  What a year it's been!

Until later...

Kathy

  1. Happy Halloween, Kathy!

I can't do hot or spicy things- my stomach won't take it. My youngest son, on the other hand, eats jalapenos right out of the jar. ugh!

We never get any trick/treaters out here-we are too far out of town. I always go in to my daughter's house where we hand out candy and I watch her kids go trick or treating. So much fun..and soon they will feel they are too old to do it, I suppose. That will be a sad day for me.

I will put away my Halloween stuff tomorrow after I get home from my shift at the VA. I didn't do much this year so it won't take long.

Have a great night and good day tomorrow. xo Diana

  2. Happy Halloween my Friend! Of course you know we don't pass out candy here, we hit the streets to get candy. Oh and candy did we get. Both kids got FILLED TO THE BRIM BAGS!!!!

I'm promising myself to watch more movies this Christmas season. Hope I can do it.

Here's to you and Joe having a blessed November. I think you should celebrate that one year retirement date, seriously!

  3. We don't get any children on our block. It's mostly businesses. I don't care for hot or spicy but glad Joe enjoyed them. Totally celebrate your retirement!

  4. Happy Halloween Kathy! We also had a lower turnout than normal. I think perhaps because it was on Monday night and daylight savings time is late this year. It's also pretty warm here in Texas! Oh well....I shall look forward to next year...perhaps I will dress up! Have a great week!

  5. Hope you had a great Halloween. We gave out 99 pieces of candy and ran out so we turned out the light and locked the door with 45 minutes left for beggars to come. Because we turned out the light, no one else came. Next year I will need to buy a lot more candy.

I like your sunset sky picture. I can hardly see sky here so I miss a lot of beauty.
I will have to tell Chad about your rice chips. He love anything HOT!

  6. We don't give out candy at hallowe'en any more. Not alot of kids in surrounding area here either, trick or treating, what I hear. So we've been eating the leftovers at work from they bought for our store. We might have had 20 and that was small compared to years before. Not sure why! Wow...you like siracha? I'm not a person who eats spicy at all. Phil likes chipotle though. Have evening!
