T-SHIRT SUNDAY 2016

The first Sunday of September is T-shirt Sunday at the church I attend.  It is a fun day that started by accident.  Back in 2009 we ordered church t-shirts.  They were blue with a logo on it that our Ministry Assistant designed.  A lot of people ordered them and on the Sunday before Labor Day almost everyone wore them.  We were all laughing about how "great minds think alike" and how funny that we all had the same idea.  Our then pastor, Pastor Wayne, got the idea of making this an annual thing and the next year announced we should all wear our shirts on the Sunday before Labor Day.  We did and T-shirt Sunday was born.  We still do this although it seems like less each year are interested in wearing their t-shirts.  And I think fewer have one.  We are talking about getting new ones for next year and that might spark interest in T-shirt Sunday again.  What you see in these pictures is the second T-shirt we got when we changed our logo.

Besides it being T-shirt Sunday it was also the first Sunday for our new pastor.  We were all so excited and you could just feel the happiness in the church.  At Fellowship Time before the service everyone was trying to talk to him.  Krystal told me this was the best Sunday because we had a pastor again.  She just smiled through the whole morning.

I really didn't do anything to celebrate Labor Day.  I didn't even "labor".  I slept a lot of the day away.  My back is getting worse instead of better and I am in pain constantly so I guess sleep is my escape.  The pain is now in my neck, shoulders and between my shoulder blades as well as in my lower back and down my legs.  I have to give in and find an orthopedist to help me.  The two I've been to have done nothing to help.  There must be someone good out there.

I took Joe to get his hair cut this afternoon.  He always goes to Supercuts.  It's a little bit of a drive to get to, but he always gets a good cut.  Today it was excellent!  I got the name of the stylist and we will go back to her again.

Then Joe took me to the Country Club for dinner.  I had fried chicken with fries and coleslaw.  He had a fried seafood platter with macaroni and cheese and fries and a big piece of chocolate cake.  I liked my dinner a lot, but he wasn't so fond of his.  I also got cookies at their bakery for Bible study tomorrow.  It will be something different and bakery cookies are always a treat.

And so now I have to go and finish typing up the handouts for tomorrow.  Hope you all have a good evening.

Kathy

  2. Kathy, I hope the new pastor worked out. It's nice that everyone was so happy about him. Honey, have you ever gone to a chiropractor?? they might be able to help you. Please don't wait too long the longer your spine is out the longer and more it is going to hurt. A chiropractor can snap you back in shape, in about 3 adjustments or less. Do the ice and heat switch on your sore muscles. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie

    1. Our new pastor is wonderful. I already love working with him.

I have not gone to a chiropractor nor will I ever go. My problem is bone spurs and bulging discs. It is not anything out of place. Ice and heat do not do anything for bone spurs.

    1. We really are very happy with our new pastor. He spoke for almost an hour and it was as if he had just started. We were talking about my Church Secretary job today and I can already tell that I'm going to like working with him.

    1. No. I do the church bulletins. I write emails from home to call together meetings. I teach Bible study. Less than 20 hours a week of volunteer time. Not every day. No, never. But I like working for the new pastor. He's easy to get along with and gives me the information I need for the bulletin when I need it or even earlier than I need it. I am NOT working as in a job.

  5. I am so sorry about your back, dear Kathy. The way you describe your pain, I don't know how you get around. Hope you can get some help soon.

I do love the T-shirt idea for the Sunday before Labor Day. I would wear one if I attended your church.

    God bless!
