THE SECOND DAY OF THE WORK WEEK AND A VISIT TO THE DOCTOR

I forgot to post this yesterday (or should I say earlier today) so here it is.  So cute.  I love the Peanuts characters.  I hope we can get to the shore at least once this year.  I didn't get to go at all last year.

Today was the second day of the work week.  These guys are really moving.  I think the parsonage is just about finished being painted.  They are doing the walls, ceilings, window and door frames and baseboards.  I took a peek and it is looking really pretty.

Our new pastor's wife and daughter came to Bible Study this morning.  It was so good having them there and they added so much to the discussion.  I am excited to have Carolyn there each week.  As Joe says, it's great to be with people who are on the same page as you are.

I got lunch for everyone again today.  I wish I could have taken a picture of it, but they came in and before I knew it, it was gone.  Joe got some tri-colored grapes:  red, green and black.  They were so pretty in the little container they came in.  I try to have fruit each day because the kids that are there love it.  A lot of the adults do too.  I also got ham, turkey and bologna, American and Swiss cheese.  Three kinds of bread too:  wheat, white and rye.  There was one slice of rye left, a little bit of the lunch meat and cheese and that's about it.  One of the ladies said how pretty everything was.

Tomorrow and Thursday I will be taking Joe to his doctor appointments so Jim and Dorothea will be taking over lunch.  I'm trying to figure out what to do for Friday.  I'm thinking of a hoagie salad, green salad and potato salad.  We'll see.

I left early because I had a doctor appointment.  I wanted to talk to Barbara (my nurse practitioner) about my latest blood test.  It turned out great!  Everything was good.  But I am having some side effects from a couple of my medications so she tweaked them.  I should be feeling better in a couple of weeks.

When I was finished I went back to church and picked up Joe.  We are both tired, so we are having a low key night.  Just what we both need.

Now it's off to make dinner.  Ham steak, sweet potatoes and fresh green beans.  Ah, I love summer meals with fresh picked veggies.

Until later...

Kathy

    1. Thanks Susie! Joe and I won't rest until next Wednesday. We have something going every day until then. Work and doctors for the next two days, an entire work day on Friday, Family Reunion Saturday, Joe preaches Sunday, doctor's appointment Monday and Bible Study Tuesday. Whew!

  2. Your meals sound good. I love grapes (so does everyone in this house!)....they disappear in a hurry! I stopped at a roadside stand today for corn. It was delicious!

    1. Ours has been really sweet as well. I didn't get it for 13 cents though! You got a bargain.

  5. Glad you are finally getting a new pastor. Both our youth pastor and worship pastor have gone to other churches this year. Both were complete surprises. This summer there have been musicians filling in for the worship pastor occasionally on Sunday morning. It's been interesting. Your dinner tonight with sweet potatoes sounds delicious. Not had it in a long time. I went to KFC for dinner this evening by myself, but it was good anyway! I always enjoy your Peanuts character pictures you share! Take care!

    1. It's hard when a pastor leaves. I hope your positions get filled quickly. Our pastor leaving was a surprise too.

  7. How exciting that you now have a Pastor.
I like how your sister church rallies to help your church and gives loving support.
I'm sure you and Joe are excited too.
    When does he officially start?

    1. It is exciting to have a new pastor! We all like him a lot. He starts on September 1st and so his first preaching Sunday is September 4th -- T-shirt Sunday! This will be fun.

We love all our sister churches. It is a close knit community of believers throughout PA, NY, NJ and DE.

  8. You must be a great cook and I bet you love cooking too. It seems that you can get a meal together in no time at all. You can think up the best meal choices. You amaze me!

I didn't realize that you got a new pastor. I must go back and read some posts that I must have missed.

    1. I do like to cook. I don't know how good of a cook I am, but Joe likes it and that's all that counts. I learned to throw meals together quickly when I worked until 8 p.m. And I make a week's worth of menus ahead of time so I know what to buy and don't have to wonder what to have for dinner.

Yes, we finally got a pastor. We are very excited about him and his wife coming.

  9. Hi Kathy! I hope you get your wish to go to the beach! How nice to have a new pastor and I pray all will be well. Your meals sound so nice and I'm guessing everyone loved them as you didn't have much left. I do hope your medications will work for you. Thank you so much for popping in to see me and your sweet comments.
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia ;)

    1. I'm hoping I get to go too. We usually wait until September when the kids are back in school and it's cheaper to stay.

People seemed to like the meals I put together. I think maybe they were just hungry from working so hard! Ha, ha!

Thanks, I hope the new dosage of my medications works too.
