A BIG THANK YOU TO THE WORK TEAM

I made it through the week.  It has been a tough week but it's over.  So much work was done.  We are so thankful for the team from Wallingford that came to help us.  There is a new roof on the garage of the parsonage and a repair to the church roof.  Plumbing was done including a new hot water heater in the church and new faucets in the parsonage.  The parsonage was completely scrubbed down and painted from top to bottom.  The kitchen cabinets were re-stained and look like new.  There was repair to the fence between the parsonage and the church parking lot.  The rug in Fellowship Hall was shampooed and the furniture rearranged.  All the electrical in the parsonage was checked and the chandelier in the dining room received new LED bulbs and cute little shades.  The fan light in the kitchen received new LED bulbs too.  The grass was cut and the garden weeded.  The tree in the back yard was pruned.  Oh my!  There are still some things to do, but oh how much was done.

We could never have done any of it without the great work team.  We love them so much.  This is a part of them.  About 1/3 of them could not come today.

I gave them lunch again today.  My friend, Donna, helped me out.  We got pizza at Little Caesar's and then went to Shop Rite to get beverages and dessert.  But I couldn't find any parking at Shop Rite.  I drove around and around and there was not one spot open.  So we left and went to Target.  I got juice, lemonade and sweetened and unsweetened tea.  I also got some grapes and a box of chocolate chip cookies.  I wasn't sure about how many pizzas to buy so I got 5.  Three were eaten and I took the other 2 home to Joe.

I took Donna home and then picked up Joe and we went over to church so he could see how things were going.  After talking to the guys for awhile, we left to go to Home Depot to pick up some things for them.  When we went back it started pouring rain.  I was hoping it would cool things off some, but no such luck.  It was awful today.  The heat was unbearable.  And it's supposed to be hotter tomorrow.

So I left to go to church this morning around 11 a.m. and got home after 6 p.m.  It has been a long day.

Tomorrow is my family's first Family Reunion.  I go back and forth on whether to go or not.  My cousin is urging me to show up if only for an hour or two.  There is a heat warning for tomorrow and the weather people are telling us to stay in the air conditioning.  I don't know what to do.  All my brothers and sisters are going to be there and I'd like to see them.  I'll let you know tomorrow what I decide to do.

Have a good night everyone.

Kathy

  1. How awesome those people are! Everything looks so pretty & I love the little lampshades. I agree with your cousin. Compromise. Go for a few hours ,perhaps early in the day & see how you feel.At least you will have seen & chatted with some of them. (That's my 2 cents worth). I emailed the shelter that I won't be coming. Russ advised me not to go & I've not fared well in this heat. Today is supposed to feel like 110*. Whatever you decide will be what's right for you.
    Stay hydrated!

    1. Oh, Deb, the family reunion doesn't start until 11 a.m. in the heat of the day. And I am so tired. It's almost 10 a.m. and I am just getting up. I figure I will go for a couple of hours, though, just to see my siblings. I don't blame you for not going out today. Wish I could stay home.

  2. Kathy, That looks like a band of angels to me. Anyone willing to help that much, is a blessing. Everyone looked happy too. I would go to the reunion if it's not too far away. You can get hugs , say hello to all, and leave when you feel like it. They will understand with this heat. Blessings to all, xoxo, Susie

    1. They sure were angels to us. They kept thanking us for the opportunity to serve us.

We decided to go to the reunion for just a short while. It is too hot to be out for long, but I do want to see my brothers and sisters.

    1. It certainly is. I thought a couple of the men were going to be sick. Their faces were bright red and all of them were soaked through at the end of the day.

  4. The work team is to be commended on the great job they did for the church. The place looks clean and nice for the pastor and his family to move in. And you......you are amazing to feed so many people in such hot weather. You are like the energizer bunny.

    1. It wasn't that hard to feed everyone since I had help and on Friday I just went and bought pizza. If you see that energizer bunny, tell him I need new batteries. I am tired.
