FLIP FLOP WEATHER

It is certainly flip flop weather around here.  It's been in the high 90s for days on end.  On Wednesday it's going down to a cool 87* (31*C) and then back up to 97* (36*C), 98*, and maybe even hit 100* later in the week.

Sunday was a lovely day.  We had a great church service.

My friend, Lenny, was the guest speaker.  We met when we attended the same church and he had a Bible Study in his home that I decided to attend.  That was over 20 years ago although it seems like maybe 2 years.  And he was my dad's pastor when he pastored a church in New Jersey 17 years ago.  Since we still do not have a pastor, Lenny offered to come take a week in the pulpit.  He had an excellent message from 1 John 1.

We had a congregational meeting after the service and voted on calling a pastor.  It was a unanimous positive vote so hopefully, if he agrees to come, we will have a new pastor in a couple of months.  That will be so good for us.

The executive director of our denomination is also an elder in our church.  He comes to visit once a month and Sunday was his week to visit.  He is also the president of the elder board and presides over all our meetings.  He and his wife, Donna, are such wonderful people.  And they took Joe and I out to lunch after the meeting.  We went to the Country Club.  We had such a good time relaxing and talking with them.

I was glad I had dressed up a little and not worn my blue jeans to church on Sunday.  At least I looked decent to go out with them.  I wore my new tassel necklace.

Joe and I were so full from lunch that we didn't eat dinner.  I had brought home some of the chicken francaise I had ordered and I finished that off.  That is my favorite meal.

Yesterday morning I had to go to the doctor for my every three month blood test.  I was very nervous because the last time I went the tech couldn't find a vein and stuck me about six times.  The doctor finally came in and did it and she stuck me twice.  This time I drank a lot of water to swell my veins and the tech got it the first time.  She left quite a bruise, but at least it wasn't over and over.

I went to Rite Aid to get my prescription refilled and weighed myself while I was there.  Now I don't know how accurate their scale is, but according to them I gained 3 pounds in 2 weeks.  I am on this low calorie diet and I don't know how I could possibly do this.  I am very discouraged.  According to my records I have gained 10 pounds since leaving work.  I know I'm not as active, but 10 pounds?!  I have to do something about this.

I had the Chocolate Haze Craze yogurt today and it was very good.  Chocolate yogurt, hazelnuts and chocolate chips.  Yum!  I will get that one again.

I did a lot more sleeping again yesterday.  But now it's 3 a.m. and I've been up for 2 hours.  My sleeping is all messed up.

I have to go to see my oncologist today for my every six months check up.  At least it's 11:15 a.m. and not first thing in the morning.  I can sleep in a little bit.  If I can get back to sleep, that is.

I wore another one of my favorite t-shirts yesterday.  You can't really see it in the picture, but it's a cat laying on a beach with a bottle of suntan lotion called "Tabby Tan" and says at the bottom "Beach Bum".  I have another one similar to it that says "I don't like mornings."  I got these so long ago that I don't remember where or when.  I wear them a lot and they are beginning to wear out.  I will be sad when they get too raggedy to wear.

I had an idea for dinner tonight and made something new.  I made grilled cheese and roast beef sandwiches.  They turned out so good.  I am going to do this again.  I get tired of eating the same old thing all the time.

I am going to end and try to get some more sleep.  Talk to you all tomorrow.  Or maybe later today.

  1. The necklace looks so pretty. Glad to hear a pastor was selected. Hopefully he will accept. Isn't it a bummer when your favorite t-shirt becomes worn & threadbare? Just getting comfortable! ha ha.
Could the 3 lbs be attributed to water weight? In this heat we're all drinking more. Hoping for a good report from your oncologist!
    Have a beautiful day!

  2. I hope you have a good day today. It's HOT here too but we expect it in the summer months. I wore a t shirt with flip flops on it yesterday! Hugs, Diane

  3. It seems we are all struggling with this intense summer heat, not my cup of tea I'm afraid.
Your church family looks lovely, and I must comment on your beautiful necklace, how gorgeous.
Stay cool, and out of the garden until later in the day !
